Important things to note:
  • It appears WOA devices will work with Active Directory domains?
  • Enterprise Windows 8 platforms will be able to deploy internally-developed and licensed third-party Metro apps that have not been published to the Windows Store

Enterprise Windows 8?? I see help desk hell. I say wait for windows 9

Where is the start menu?

Why can't run this app in a window?

also this is windows 8 turn off in the Enterprise (thinking from a BYOC stand point)

Because Windows 8 practically forces you to login with your Windows Live/Hotmail details to access features such as the Metro Store, synchronization and SkyDrive,' he writes."

For ARM Windows devices in the enterprise Microsoft should build in a think client function for x86 compatibility. So Explorer, the windowing system and any app that is ARM native can be run directly from the device, but x86 apps are run through a server. Either that or wait until x86 SoCs catch up to ARM.

Of course if the company doesnt rely on legacy apps that much then this wouldn't really be an issue.

From a client view, that is true.

That's hardly going to be true in a purely enterprise enterprise environment though, is it? They won't be allowed to use the Metro store (Apps will be deployed internally). Similarly, Skydrive will be blocked - they have their own infrastructure for this. And Synchronisation in enterprise environments has literally been around decades - they're called roaming profiles.

There will be support for RDP, even in the Metro environment, so I should think that they can use existing solutions such as RemoteApp to make available any x86 legacy apps on ARM.
