Personally, I think that it will possibly be a success, especially for those with tablets and netbooks. Furthermore, it is also not at all that bad on a PC, so I don't think it'll be a flop.

Since alot of the PC market is Regular desktops and Laptops, Windows 8 could be a flop, it's tablet friendly but is it desktop freindly? Nope. Although the tablet computers is great for Windows 8, Most PC owners bought non-touch screen PCs. But, I can't really argue because it hasn't gone to beta.

Is it desktop-friendly? In my opinion, H_Dan, it IS. I have it running on my desktop. It is quick to boot, responsive, easy-to-use, and the Metro interface works just fine with a mouse and keyboard.

I think it will be like most other OS's, at first people will hate it, but Microsoft will release updates and stuff and it will be alot more better. Much like Vista, which is actually good now.

While consumer PCs will probably be loaded with it, businesses might reject it, like with Vista, which was a success with the consumer market but not with businesses, who still want to run XP on their old P3/4s.

Personally I believe it will be a flop. Why not make this os microsoft calls the next gen os in to a edition such as touch screen ed or at least give people the option to change the look. Also the boot loader is really retarded why in the world would you make it boot half way and then reboot when you choose to load win7.

Eh, people love the beta so far, I like it, and who knows? They might go the other way around with the updates and make it worse while trying to make it better.

I love Metro UI and I think that I will be a future Windows 8 User... acconding to me I think that Windows 8 may not be accepted as well as Windows 7 from consumers... (because people like my father for example when he saw Windows 8 he said that "Microsoft is going to complicate things") and... about Windows 7... I'm sure it will be the new "XP"... what do you think about that?
I'd say I do not know. I remember seeing an early build of Windows Longhorn in action at school in '04 (the technician showed it to a my teacher and I was standing next to him) and was impressed. I was all excited when newer builds came out, but in '07 the official version was like an experiment blowing up in my face. Win8 looks to me more like a smartphone/tablet friendly OS, but I think it will fail in the competition between next generation androids and iOS. As for the PC users I'm with your father. I don't like it, I think they are going with a quite complicated and mixed-up way with this.
p.s. 1GB minimum memory required for the preview version? I hope they keep the requiremets as low as possible for the final release. With every Win that comes out everybody has to upgrade his memory, what's the point.

They've already publicly stated that the system requirements for Windows 8 (the full-featured desktop version) will be exactly the same as those for Windows 7. So anybody who has a reasonably modern computer won't need any hardware upgrades.

Who doesn't have at least 1GB of RAM in their computer these days?

Point, however my family/relatives have computers with 512MB's of RAM and still XP because they only check their emails, nothin serious. The CP will work on 512MB of RAM though right?

It'll run, yeah. But it'll be slow. And honestly, if all they're doing is checking email and stuff, they may want to stay with XP rather than learning a whole new way to do things.

Isn't it really the adequate amount for some office programs and internet? I mean, after this release, upgraders should have at least 2Gb installed in order to do more like media related stuff, etc.

Honestly i think it will flop, however it may not happen due to the growing user base of Tablet computers, ipads, and touch screen computers. I personally like how 8 is, but it seems out of place. It dont deserve the Windows 8 name. If it was called Windows Mobile ____ Then that would be a different story.

It doesn't "deserve" the name? Is that really something we're fit to judge? It is designed to be a desktop OS (as opposed to a mobile OS), so calling it "Windows Mobile (name)" would be more inappropriate than calling it Windows 8.
