Hi. I looking to buy some old laptop to test old software. I want laptop with processor with range 33 mhz to 75 mhz. It's hard to find on ebay or amazon category where I can found those old laptop (it's like you can customise processor speed 1GHZ and less, but not exactly 33 to 75 mhz). At Toshiba site is nice archive so if something going about Toshiba I know for what look, but what about other laptop company ? I don't know exactly laptop models from those site, and some info regardings that year laptop, some config etc. will be much appreciated). If anyone can help me in that I'll be very greatful. I just looking to buy in Europe laptop, because I am from Poland and I don't want to pay 200$ for transport from USA :P. Thanks all in advance for all help.

P.S Sorry if wrong sub-forum.

Go with an old IBM ThinkPad or Toshiba Satellite. I've had a couple from both, here's the specs listing as best I can remember:

IBM ThinkPad 360CE
CPU: Intel 486DX/2 66MHz
RAM: 24MB
Hard drive: 340MB
Sound: No
Screen: 640x480 16 color VGA

Toshiba Satellite 400CDT
CPU: Intel Pentium 75MHz
RAM: 48MB
Hard drive: 5GB*
Sound: Yes, ESS AudioDrive
Screen: 800x600 16-bit color SVGA
*BIOS is limited to 2GB or so, you have to use a drive overlay in order to get large hard drives

If you get an old Thinkpad you can lookup the components inside and get tips at the thinkpad wiki.

I'd go for an IBM Thinkpsd 755cx as they are very flexible machines and have an active matrix screen. Parts are not too rare either. The only downside is no CD drive, although a parallel one could be used.

I got personally some time ago 410CDT with 90 mhz, and 24 mb ram but was damaged and was gone :( I can be very interested in Toshiba Satellite 400CDT because its first Toshiba Pro with CD-rom come from accros 1995 year. How much you wish to want (if you want of course sell) for those toshiba and maybe for IBM ThinkPad too if you want to sell them ? Those laptop can be great for testing old Windows, because got much memory. I got ZIP Iomega 100 MB on LPT so its no problem to install something on ThinkPad 360CE. Second think. I can be too interested at IBM Thinkpad 755cx, its one from first model from IBM from 1994 year which got CD, I see your model don't have but maybe somewhere I can get it if I find original part number, order number.

Unfortunately, I no longer have either of these. The video controller died in the ThinkPad and I sold the Toshiba to a friend of mine.

I check site for example http://www.impactcomputers.com and there are many parts for those old IBM. Maybe if someone got old laptop like this then please post, or I have to post my request in trade sub-forum ? On ebay or even amazon is not easy to find if you dont know model. But for first I try look for IBM ThinkPad 700C, 755CD and those Toshiba Satellite Pro 400CDT

Browsing through the vintage computing section on eBay with the keyword "laptop" should be able to find you something suitable. There are quite a few 486 laptops here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=lap ... acat=11189

But the bad about ebay.com is everything is from USA...
