What version of Inno Setup did you use to make setup?

Can you upload the template .iss file for Windows 97 so I want to make custom Windows installers?

I made a tutorial about this a while ago on some other forum, in french... But you should be able to figure it out with google translate ;)

EDIT: BTW, here's the file you need to download (in the protected message): GUI install tutorial [fr]

Thanks.

For version 3.5, why you created ".prg" one instead of standalone one?

Oh. That thing... That was just to avoid running the program by mistake from another OS. You can rename it with a .exe extension, it's a normal 16-bit executable...

Thanks for pointing that.

How to do you edit IO.SYS for "Starting Windows 97..." message?

Where do you want to go today?

All Microsoft operating systems!
Most likely it was done by way of some sort of editor (most of those special editors, from what I see, can change such messages without damaging the file itself).

However if I edit it using hex editor, the system won't load.

It's a very tricky manipulation: you cannot add or remove letters: you must replace them, thus keeping the string lenght ;)

Yes, that and, there are 2 types of text (learned that and more when hacking the PSP):

The first one, which you may already know:

The second one (null bytes separate each character):

Also, as ideeman1994 said, you can't change the size of a binary file, yes. If your text is too long, you can't do anything, without disassembling and reassembling. But if it's shorter, just fill the rest of the string with null bytes:

Very interesting this OS is.
It is fast and smooth! Thanks! It looks like Windows 95 but really it is 3.1!

NOTE TO NEWBIES TO OLD WINDOWS VERSIONS:This is an obvious mod of Windows 95. I kinda don't get why people post mods here. This is called BetaArchive, not ModArchive!

...Oh dear

Ok, first, this actually IS windows 3.11, and I think I'm pretty sure since I made it, so before saying rubbish, take a look at what I made... On another angle, I'm happy someone really takes it as Windows 95, means I made a good job...

Second, we are in the "Custom Operating Systems" section, I think this is appropriate. I'm posting a Custom Windows 3.11 OS. It may also go to the "Customization" section, if it really is a major concern.

You're not obliged to go to this section of the forum, if you want betas, just get FTP access, and stop trolling ;-)

Okay, I just finished the English version, now the only thing I've got to do is to pack everything in my installation program... Hopefully it'll be available for download by the end of the weekend ;)

You forgot to set the setup background to the setup background I sent you via pm. Can you add it next version?

Sure! I think I did it on the final installation, surely forgot to put it as setup... Doing it right now ;)
