Yes, I had to install regular Windows 8 version instead of the Metro-less one. At least there is a classic start menu available.

Yes, just a regular Server 2003 R2 installation with the Tango icon theme:

Mountain Lion Dev 2 is even more awesome! Safari 5.2 just flies, and you can finally enable smooth fonts on PC monitors.

I normally have so many windows open that my CPU goes straight up to 80ºC, not even mind of seeing the wallpaper.
