Mega your beginning to make me wonder since Windows and Linux are kinda hard to compare. Ones free the other is expensive lol

Typing this from the CP. I have to say, I like it. I don't miss the Start Button at all, thanks to the "active corners" (an innovation Microsoft may or may not have borrowed from GNOME 3, which has a very similar feature). These also finally give me a good way to actually CLOSE programs instead of just hiding them. The OS installed in under 5 minutes, which actually shocked me as I went to make dinner and came back to see the Personalization screen waiting for me instead of the expected "Copying Windows Files" dialogue. The visual improvements, while minor, are nice. All in all, I feel Microsoft is going in the right direction.

Mine took longer than 5 min, although I also had the Personalization screen waiting when i came back from lunch.

I was a bit disappointed though that I lost all personalization and Programs when I upgraded from DP to CP, luckily it didn't delete my files though, and the option did say "Keep personal files only", so I guess it was expected I would get a clean install. So now to installing all my programs again...

They seem to have vastly improved the Basic Display Adapter driver. I installed the Developer Preview on one of my older PCs which doesn't have a Windows 8-compatible video card in it and since Metro is hardware-accelerated, it ran pretty slow. Now that the Beta is out, I installed it on the same PC and everything is actually usable now. Can't snap apps since the basic driver only does 4:3 resolutions -.-

You get the idea. Metro everywhere, and I'm OK with this.

Windows 8 is nothing like the mess called Android. Windows 8's apps have a nice clean codebase, C#, unlike Android which uses Java. People wonder why Android is slow 8-)
Also, you can hardly compare Metro to the AOSP or even Sense and TouchWiz UIs.

Metro apps ride on WinRT, and you can use .NET-based languages (C#, VB), native code (C++) and HTML5/Javascript ;) Still, no matter which one you choose they're miles ahead of Android and Java.

True that, I forgot about hounsell being a traitor and ditching the WP7 app for BA and porting it to WinRT. I suppose I could make a port to WP7.

I tested a few days the windows 8 Consumer Preview :beta: and found it very good, difficult to use (for the older ones) but interesting. Different but different is not always bad.

I've been poking around windows 8 a little still haven't seen it all but here goes on features that are not enabled.

You can now buy product keys and such from a program that is built into windows.
The applications that are disabled are there such as PDF reader, Camera, as well as Maps for the Windows 8 with Apps preview.

I think we will also see some more features seems that most of these features are from android as well as apple. Hey they copy each other why shouldn't MS. Overall the OS is pretty stable but needs a good amount of bug fixing.

I agree, why did they take away the start button/menu? it was so good in the Developer Preview.

You're not missing anything, really. Anything you could do or find in the Start menu is now in the Metro Start, but without messy menus and lists.

Ok then if that is the case am I truly able to do things as fast without the start menu with the Metro interface? Such as accessing some of the main programs like cmd without using the keyboard shortcuts?

I preferred DP, but maybe I'll get used to this CP. Hoping the RC will be better.

PS. You could just add cmd to your start screen... It's not hard.

It's win+R to open the Run window; you can run non-metro apps in start screen as adminiastrator idendity as well by right clicking the pinned app and select "Run as Administrator".
