...I'm asking this, since I have noticed that many of the Metro apps that were in the Developer Preview (Build 8102), such as Paintplay, Labyrinth, Socialite, and others, are no longer in the now widely available Consumer Preview (Build 8250), and I have the following question for everyone here:

Were these apps simply removed from Windows 8 completely, or were they moved to the Windows Store? The reason I'm asking this is due to the fact that I'm still working on my Windows 8 Review for BetaArchive project, and I need to know whether or not I am to review these "extra" apps, or just skip them entirely.

The system configuration on which I'm running Windows 8 does not have a usable Internet connection set up at the moment, and until I can get a working security key for it, I can't test the Windows Store where I am at the moment, yet since the others here almost certainly have access to it, I'm asking them to look in the Windows Store for each and every Metro app that was included with the Developer Preview build, that isn't available by default in the Consumer Preview build, just to see if they're available in the Windows Store or not, since it would help me a great deal, believe me.

Those apps were completely scrapped, as they aren't present in the Store.

They seem to have been completely removed. I don't see them in the Windows Store anywhere.

They were never any more than sample applications for developers to have a look at. They made it quite clear at WDP that they wouldn't be around in any future build.

Actually, I've searched online, and found screenshots of the Windows Store with listings for both, Labyrinth and Paintplay, so apparently, they were not discontinued as such.

Possibly, I should try to see about getting a security key for my other system configuration (the one being used to test Windows 8), so that I can search for them myself.

EDIT: Here's the one screenshot of the Labyrinth listing in the Windows Store (the other was saved, strangely enough, in .BMP format, so I'll have to convert it to .PNG format before uploading it here):

Here, you can clearly see that Labyrinth is not only listed in the Windows Store, but is available for permanent use for $8 dollars.

I'm pretty sure the Windows Developer Preview apps being in the Windows Store were just filler for when they were showing it off at various keynotes.

Well, the other screenshot is enough different that it appears to be much closer to the Consumer Preview build, but as I already said, I need to first convert it to .PNG format before I can upload it here.

But anyway, I'm quite certain that I'll eventually set up Internet access in Windows 8, and once it's set up, I'll certainly test the Windows Store for myself, and search for all of the above mentioned Metro apps just to see if they are listed or not.

That was just a way to show off the Windows Store UI with an application that developers are already familiar with more than likely, not any confirmation that the store will host that application or any others.
