According to WinUnleaked.tk, the Windows 8 Consumer Preview has officially been compiled, and the build number for it will be 8250. The build is still set to release on the 29th of February.

WinUnleaked is an invalid source because it is owned by somebody who makes up stuff about windows 8 and hopes its real.

not a very good source but many other sites are saying the same thing. ,but there are just five days left now till beta if the date is correct just wait and we will know for sure then. but as the days close in info may leak out.

I am more interested in the have/don't have thing than the build number.
Soon we will all know and all have.

It wasn't but a while ago everyone here seemed to claw at any information Canouna released, and now all of a sudden both he and his site just get bashed? What happened to change everyone's mind?

The way I do it, is a little bit annyoing, I know, but it's some sort of statistics.
Also, this will be cleared when Win8 reaches RTM.

Some of us NEVER trusted Canouna's info, mostly because when asked for evidence or sources he'd get belligerent and refuse to give any confirmation. That's always a bad sign.

Let's say I had a source who gave me information and said "yeah it's ok to say yada yada yada, just don't say how you know it", then I went out and released information and when people asked how, I too would be holding back when people asked where or how.

I've dipped in behind the scene a time or two and have been told exactly that. And it's not like you can just give your sources away.

I'm not saying he's right or wrong, but there has been a bit of stuff he's been right about would give him a bit more leeway than people who just go around typing nonsense all the time.

You have a good point. However, I choose not to trust anyone who acts like that EVERY time they present ANY information. It makes me suspicious. Maybe he really does have inside sources for some things, but I think he makes a lot of stuff up, and thus I don't regard him as reliable. (shrugs) And maybe I'm wrong. If I see evidence that he really is turning into a reliable source, I'll reconsider.

Microsoft tweeted the date last week if I remember correctly. I saw it on the microsoft twitter feed as well as their windows feed.

I did notice that the microsoft.com website was not accessible between 7 and 8pm GMT last night but not sure if it was just me or not but I did try at my sisters house and at home and also on my mobile and ipod touch.

Explain the Screenshots though where'd he get those but in the archive on MDL canouna would post Windows 7 Build 7xxx i hope it leaks!!!

Adobe Photoshop is an amazing tool. I'm sure he's got some builds and a source or two, but nowhere near as many as he makes it sound.

Also, who remembers his claims that a Windows 8 build would leak after CES 2011? That the Windows 8 Beta would be 8175? That the Windows 8 Beta would be released sometime mid-February? Which one of those claims came true? Answer: None of them, yet he jumped up and down saying that they were true.

The quickest way to tell if something is photoshopped is by the text. Photoshop can't mimic ClearType.

Some stuff he says could just be speculation that other people just instantly take as fact and when that speculation falls through people distrust him.

I love how the beta community has devolved to this childish nonsense.

Honestly have we really come to a level now where instead of simply ignoring people who you chose not to believe, people just insult them?

You go through a thread, see other people hating on someone over something so unbelievably silly and think, hey everyone else is doing it, so I'll insult him too with some witty retort then post it here so everyone else can see that I insulted someone over minute event that affects me in no way.

We're all obviously excited for the first beta build. Anybody wanna take a guess at what new features they might be including in this one? No fair saying Windows Store, because that's already been announced.
