Every build of Longhorn before code resetting has two versions (quite different) of the files in self.
When I've working on the files, I saw there is one files in the i386 form, and others in WIM installation image, even when I separated them, they request a different serial number. How you can see from the screenshot start menu is different, in WIM version is just Windows logo on it, here is in an old XP-texted style.

Repack of the Longhorn build 4051
~Created on February 21, 2012~

Repack is i386 installation form for the Longhorn 4051 and Build is almost untouched except Memory Leak has been fixed.


Improvements:
*Registry Fixes which was done by MAXtoriX and integrated in the OS, were made on the basics of guide for LH 4051 from Chris123NT and Nighthawk
*The Infamous Explorer Memory Leak has been fixed. (Sidebar is turned off by default because causes memory leak)
*Patched Winlogon.exe
*Fully Unattended installation (can be edited via WINNT.SIF)
*OS is much faster then usual
*Timebomb was removed / pre-disarmed
*BIOS Date is free - you don't need to change the date for installing
*There no any tracks from the watermark in the right corner; I don't remove the watermark, he simply was not present at all, not even at the first start)
*Third-party drivers are not included
*Activation is still required, but Activation files are somehow bugged / damaged - you can activated with AntiWPA (this is not included)

Seems it doesn't like the VB video driver, can't even install guest additions this way.. shame. Anyone know of a workaround? Safe mode is a no go, was the first thing I checked.

@Reelfiles, use VMWare or VPC or an emulator.

VirtualBox does not like Longhorn builds, use VMware, it's much more compatible with them

Thanks, I am just gonna dual boot it on an older laptop. I am using WinToFlash to make a bootable USB stick right now. Had to edit i386\DOSNET.INF for it to accept the system files though.

I miss the good old days when interface design was about giving users access to the computer. To me Longhorn conjurers feelings of a future that never was, like looking at the Bauhaus architecture and am deeply saddened that our world is obscured by cartoonist text and a thick plate of Glass.

why is "Code Name" two words should only be one "Codename"

Actually, MS themselves have spelt it both ways in the past.

I don't care at all how people spell "code-name" (notice how I'm spelling it with a dash, to differentiate it from either of the other spellings) - it is, after all, the same word. By the way, this is going so far offtopic, because this is about repacking and rereleasing older Longhorn builds, and NOT about how people spell words differently.

You where the one who started about spelling , i only pointed out ( by posting on this topic on the BA forums) (accessing it via the address bar , typing in "http://www.betaarchive.com" and navigating to the forums link) that i thought it was better one word than two ( so you could say it was a suggestion, something put forward for consideration)

I ended up having to burn a DVD of it, kept BSODing when trying to install from USB, probably a driver issue. Seems fairly stable but internet explorer was pretty much unusable. It crashed pretty much every time I breathed the wrong way. I tried it on a Compaq C502US, 1.86GHz Celeron 440, GMA 945 chipset, 3GB Ram. It had the usual issues, program incompatibilities, random lag etc but file management was pretty smooth and the animations worked pretty good. Good job and thanks.

well thanks for that but i would really like a repack of 4093 since it's installation takes about 1-1.5 hrs

Problem is, most of that time is spent in MiniSetup, or the stage after Setup copies files from the CD to the hard disk. So it would make little to no difference if you used an i386 installer or the (far better) WIM installer.

Could make a repack of the installation of Longhorn in 4093 wim same installer, cause the installation of it and wormy, or repaired and closed again

Update: The idea for repack of 4083/84 or 4093 stand, but they are very empty and unstable builds, however if there is someone who has fixes for those builds, can send me a link for download in pm.
*Files from build 4042 were somehow corrupted basically, the installation in text mode lasted more than 40 minutes, which was crucial for re-packing this version to remain just an idea, unfortunately, there isn't any real possibility for realization

By the way... Repacking of the Longhorn build 4074 is finished, and I promise this will be much much better release. Details: Tomorrow!

It's the nature of the UHCI/EHCI USB driver when it's loaded. Resets the bus, thus causing the drive to become unmounted unexpectedly. This then causes the system to halt with a particular STOP error, which I have conveniently forgotten. If I saw it, I could easily point it out.
