(Don't reply saying I must use other virtualization or emulation software)

I want to play PC game called Cold Shadow (A Disney game from 1996) on Virtual PC 2007 because I feel nostalgia for it, the game runs only on DOS-based Windows versions (From Windows 3.1 with Win32s to Windows Me) (though it isn't a DOS game), and when I play it, there's no music (It requires the CD-ROM inserted for playing), how can fix this problem?

Note: I have the game as an original CD bought back in the late 1990s

Please make sure you are mounting on the first cd-rom drive (by alphabetic order). For most cases it's "D:".

Have you tried MagicISO? Because you could take the game and make it an ISO then put it into Virtual PC.

The problem might be that your virtual OS or Virtual PC cdrom handler can't recognize additional audio tracks in cd, it only identifies data track 1. To find out:
Run virtual pc and start the machine. Insert your cd in drive. In virtual pc capture corresponding cd drive. Make sure it's the very first cdrom drive in virtual machine (usually "D:"). Run "Media player".

Like shown above, select "cd audio".

Now skip to track 2 (because track 1 is not valid audio track, it's data track)
Play it.

If you can play it, it means it OS recognized cd correctly and audio should work in game too. If it still don't work - it beats me!

---
You can rip this game too, but if above method don't work - don't bother with it. Please don't use MagicIso - it only rips data tracks (2048 bytes/sector), I know it from experience. Use IsoBuster or Alcohol 120.

When ripping, make sure you select "RAW (2352 bytes/sector)" format for Cd's with audio tracks. Otherwise audio
can't be ripped.

Good luck!
