Where do you want to go today?

All Microsoft operating systems!
I'm quite certain that Windows 8 will be quite a large and successful product launch, as with nearly every version of Windows released before it.

However, yes, it is true that there are many, many topics about Windows 8, as chrisjose1913 noted above.

Ok I'll be the one to break the Ice.

Windows 8 will fail for 3 reasons.

1. The GUI is meant for a touch screen device if it doesn't have a proper start menu button then the normal desktop machines won't work with it.
2. As a person who has used Windows since Windows 98 the metro interface is hideous why make more hoops to jump through to access programs?
3. In my opinion there isn't that much change between windows 7 and windows 8 so not many will switch over like XP as well as the fact that Simplifying the user interface is kinda dumbing down the user base.

There I broke the ice I will now look like the odd man out lol.

Now I will be hitting one thing hard why make a new thread when like the mods say there is already tons of these.

Your saying win8 will fail yet it's only just hit BETA 8-)

1 The GUI is enhanced for a touch screen but works just as good on desktop

2 metro interface is hideous ? that's just your view along with a minority of people

3 there isn't that much change between windows 7 and windows 8 ? there have been many changes in the UI and performance tweaks boot time ECT

4 touch screen devices are very common now there cheaper so Microsoft will aim for a touch friendly UI

5 there is a good chance Microsoft will keep the start menu in win 8 for professional use "may see it added back in a BETA at a later date"

on my facts and judgement i can see win 8 doing well if the start menu is left as an option such as show classic start menu just like win xp and vista with the 95 98 2000 menu. i can see Microsoft doing this for professional use system administrators ECT

yes Microsoft may lose some custom but may gain some.

so nope you have not broke the ice

Man you don't know the meaning of breaking the ice I was posting it to get the debate going because with every decision there are always more than one side to it ;).

I guess I'm old then since I prefer being able to navigate directly from one folder to the next inside of the System. Ok well explain man why isn't the metro interface bad? Also you said that the classic interface may be added later thats not a definite answer thats more like dancing (chuckles). The boot time is ok compared to Linux and Apple restively just saying. Why must I be a system admin to be able to use the classic start menu I may be old but I don't think 21 counts as old. I just don't see Windows 8 catching on for the normal desktop users is all to be honest.

I'm not all doom and gloom though I wanna see where this goes as well in the beta.

I find Windows 8 annoying as well. Rather, I find the elitist attitude that certain people have over Windows 8 annoying.

Smorgan, I'm 22. My first computer had Windows 3.1. Now, I LIKE the Metro interface, because it makes it much easier to access my commonly used programs and it is SIMPLE, without a bunch of stuff distracting me. Now, you know that asking someone to explain "why the Metro interface isn't bad" is just baiting them, since you're not going to change your mind, so I'm not going to do it. Instead, I'm just going to point out that not everyone shares your opinions on Metro, and talking down to those who DO is pretty freaking rude. I've used Metro on my desktop, navigating it with keyboard and mouse instead of the touchscreen, and it worked just fine. I could even access the file manager by switching to the classic desktop and opening "My Computer". So please, stop being so militantly anti-Metro. It's getting annoying to see you bashing people and talking down to them just because they don't agree with you.

Not sure if this is backseat moderating or not. If it is, I'm really sorry and I'll delete the comment.

I'm entitled to my own opinion just as everyone else is here and not my own facts I know. If I wanted to pressure people on why windows 8 was worthless I would but don't need to. What I'm trying to say is that Metro might not be the best option in simplifying the user interface. Really me bating people no I would not I'm trying to get more of thing of what people think of metro I'm not that vindictive anyway.

Also now I'm an elitist thanks I'll take that as an achievement @ Linuxlove.
