nVidia FTP Link:

ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/vista/

On at official nVidia FTP Server maybe we can find drivers which work for Longhorn.

The earliest file on there is dated April 2006... the omega13 reset happened sometime after August 2004. You sir do not know what you are talking about. If you mean post reset builds... the Longhorn codename doesn't properly apply to those builds. Yes I know the branding for a time was carried over but meh.

The best way to get NVidia drivers working in alpha builds of Longhorn is probably hackfixing some together. Let's be honest though, nobody gives two [censored] about Longhorn any more. It's old and too buggy, it's not worth fixing a build. It's worth building a Longhorn clone if people really want to see it work. Server 2003 SP1, GOGOGO!

nVidia ForceWare for XP work perfectly for Longhorn, but you must extract the .inf file.
I haven't tried yet ATI's Catalyst because I don't have any ATI/AMD cards.

Every time I tried Forceware it didn't work. Not even the infs. I wonder if NVidia finally got their act together.

Really, for anything before the reset, I found XP's drivers to be fine. I guess you want something to do with LDDM?

It's still worth mentioning on BA as it has had an interesting history.

Yes!

Longhorn was the most discussed OS at BA till recently. Nowadays the forum is full of xxx_windows8fan_xxxs, who haven't seen any Windows older that XP or even Vista RTM.

Those "betacollectors" who don't love Longhorn are very strange at least (i would say they are not betacollectors at all).

I think you miss the point of what we mean. We don't hate it.

it's not a case of not knowing what he is talking about at all i have had drivers from 2009 that work on longhorn.
the FTP helps with the chance of finding drivers that may just work on longhorn.

I am one of those people who don't find it so fascinating as most of other members here. Some even tend to take it to the next level, but that's not the point. The point is you're one of them and you're ridiculous if you call yourself a beta collector. Not everyone likes all betas, so if I were you, I would give it a second thought before saying something as stupid as that...

Here all of us already know that the Windows Vista alpha it's mean Longhorn Development stage before code reset. My point is: these drivers maybe were re-released, how it said: "Last modified" not "First time published/upload on date", so that is how I made my conclusion on that words.

I believe maxtorix is right.
If you navigate to the /beta1/ directory, some of the files were last modified on July 25th and July 26th, 2005, which is less than a week after Windows Vista Beta 1 was released to MSDN and TechNet.

It's quite possible that some of these files were updated, re-released, or re-published to the server, which would explain why the /alpha/ directory files have a later date associated with them. And it is also possible that the /alpha/ directory simply refers to the builds before the official Beta release from Microsoft after the Longhorn Reset, such as the WinHEC Developer Preview 5048.

Topic cleaned. Builds are just builds, they are not worth fighting about. For that matter, neither is fighting over opinions.

It seems to be right. Drivers from /alpha/ folder don't work in Longhorn 4074.
