Microsoft has send a Private Beta of Office 15 to random users via Microsoft Connect:

Two days ago one of the Microsoft blogs reported news about the new version of Microsoft Office (Office 15) and opening the mail today I meet I have been a select few private beta test of Microsoft Office 15.

One of the tasks of the MVP is to test the products under development and send feedback, bugs, etc.. Microsoft, at once accepted the invitation to the Technical Preview, I proceeded with installation on 64-bit platform. It's a shame, because even if you are testing the product, I tie a confidentiality agreement that I can not violate, so you'll have to conformaros with the image of the download page (as we refer the findings of relevant evidence).

The public beta will be available to all users with the arrival of summer, although the group has already advanced product to come adapted to all new platform that provides funcionionalidades Office 365.

Only very skilled users and MS Employees get those ones, according to that post.
I don't expect this build to be leaked.

It probably won't be leaked... It's safe to say MS would find out who did it and take actions in case someone would leak it...

It's not always a good idea to rush to public beta, you know...

Calm down.

It's simply because it's still very buggy - they don't want to release it to the public until it's at a certain level of readiness. They released things earlier and more often with Vista, and all it got them was bad press for the most part. A sad fact that reflects poorly on mainstream journalism, but an unavoidable problem nonetheless.

Windows 8 is completely a different thing. All builds are meant to be private, except Developer Preview and the upcoming Consumer Preview, RC and RTM.

I am a connect member and I got an invitation to Windows Thin PC. But lets say if I didnt get the invitation to Office 15 Private Beta. Its okay if I didnt get it, just be happy and pretend your in the My Little Pony land until Office 15 is released.

What I mean is that just be happy with what you are! Seriously people, nobody cares about how much they love betas! They just want it so they will test them and send feedbacks! Also, they wont leak it in order to not to go to Jail and spend years eating rotten fish and green chum blob and being surrounded by books that people force you to read!

So lets face it, Jail or no Jail. If you get this same private beta, -> choose the choice! <-

Who cares about this build! The beta isn't that long away! I'm fine as long as we get some screenshots, and I think they're not going to kill someone over those.

I am a member of Connect and got the Win Thin invite and participated. I also got invited to the d/l install of Win8 DP "Fair", which I also participated in. I have not gotten an Office invite, or some others I see mentioned around and have no idea how MS decides who gets what invites.

I believe anybody can join Connect and get involved in testing software, although you may not always get what you want.

ETA - I think you need a Windows Live ID to sign up.
