Last night (by which I mean February 1st, 2012 at about 10 o'clock, Central Standard Time), a Dalek entered the #nttalk chat room, which is hosted on the AlphaChat IRC network. I was under the impression that Daleks did not actually exist in real life, as they are from a science fiction show called Doctor Who, which airs in Britain on the BBC television network. I am uncertain as to if this was a genuine Dalek or if it was mearly an imitation - however, if it was an imitation, it was a very good one.

Anyway, me and this Dalek conversed over how they took over BetaArchive (which you are on right now to read this thread), their wants and wishes and how I must become the defacto leader of the #nttalk IRC channel. Since I prefer to live, I had to accept this Dalek's demands.

I have uploaded our conversation to YouTube (a site where anyone can upload videos for free, the only requirement being one must register in order to upload videos) in a Windows Media Video file, which was created using Sony Vegas Pro 9.0, and finally, uploaded to YouTube using Opera 11.61. The image of the Dalek was found on the Tardis Index File, a fan-run wiki hosted on Wikia (a site that allows anyone to run their own wiki-style site for free) and can be visited by typing the web address http://tardis.wikia.com into your browser's Address Bar. I found the Tardis Index File (and, the image of the Dalek) via a Google Images (a site run by Google which allows users to enter query terms and find images relating to their terms) search using the query terms "dalek". This specific image in in the JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) image format, under the filename "NewDalek1.jpg".

The video itself is in a Windows Media Video format, as I have previously stated. It is a 4:3 aspect ratio video (which means the screen length is evenly divisible by 4, and the screen height is evenly divisible by 3), which means it is not a high-definition, 16:9 aspect ratio video - such a short video does not need to be high-definition, as the audio is all that truly matters. For those curious, the raw WMV (the acronym for Windows Media Video) file's audio bitrate is 96kbps (which is kilobits per second, NOT kilobytes per second), its sample rate is 44 kHz (which is kilohertz, a measure used for measuring frequencies) and it has two channels, meaning this is not a monaural (one channel of audio) recording, but rather, a stereo (two channels of audio) recording.

You can get special voice modulators that make your voice crackle like a Dalek. They were probably using one of them

Well I am out of practice, I used to be alot better at it. But you are correct. I am using a ring modulator VST. But that does not do much I have to put alot of my self into the performance. If I had a proper hardware ring modulator it would sound 100 times better. But I work with what I have.

This may become a thing.. It is up to you guys. Also ignore Neko because he has decided to become a Dalek Agent and cannot be trusted. WE MUST FIGHT THE DALEK FORCE!

I found the post amusing on a number of levels. I think the moral of the story here is that someone's pointless post is another man's favourite topic.

It would be quite funny, once it's released, to hear the "Dalek" speaking out my Windows 8 review, if not even pointing out all of the features of Windows 8 in the process! Let's just hope that he doesn't damage his Windows 8 installation in the process...

Of course, "he" could also speak out other people's works, such as the works of William Shakespeare.

I don't think Daleks can use keyboards or mice, so what would their interest be in a massive repository of software that requires the use of said interface devices?

True, they can't use keyboards or mice but they can use people - see Daleks in Manhattan

See the episode 'Dalek' sometime here in 2012 a lone Dalek will download the entire internet by smashing its plunger though a monitor. Also it can manipulate a keypad using said plunger.
