Here is my laptop for now...with the higher res yet dark screen as the original 1280x800 screen decided to have it's backlight go out, but yet this one gets darker as you go up, and is brightest in the mid settings (LCD panel issue, replicated on another laptop).

Although my desktop has changed very little since September 2009 two years ago, I decided to post it here anyway, with even some screenshots showing it evolving (albeit very little) over time.
My desktop (original September 29th, 2009 post):
My desktop (April 2nd, 2011 post, edited with "L"s and "R"s reversed for April Fools Day; April 1st obviously):
My desktop (February 1st, 2012):
EDIT: Soon, I'll probably post the desktop of my Windows 8 installation.

This is a February 2012 thread, not a "history of your desktop in pictures" thread. Keep on topic, last thing we need is everyone deciding to post every screenshot of their desktop they've ever taken.

WinPC, Firefox is still available for Windows 2000. Why and how are you still using IE6 in this day and age?
Same reason he's using Windows 2000? No other reason than a desire to live life like it's a decade ago?

Hounsell, I know of only one website that still sort of works with IE6, and that is MSN.com. Of course retronauts would want to keep it there just for the sake of it, but there's no other browser I can see on the desktop

I only use Internet Explorer 6, NOT because I actually want to, but rather, because it's the latest version of Internet Explorer supported on my version of Windows NT 5, and I find it pointless to carry out what is essentially an entire reinstall of Windows just for a browser (Windows XP Service Pack 3 over Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4).
Also, I know about Firefox, but the problem is that I refuse to use it for personal reasons. I have nothing against Firefox in terms of its functionality, it's the fact that the mere use of it is considered an anti-Microsoft act to rip them of their market share that I have a problem with (do a Google search if you don't believe me, and you'll see). In other words, I don't have a problem with them distributing their browser, or even competing with Microsoft, but rather, the way they did it.
If I had my way, I would have long upgraded to Internet Explorer 8. I really would like to upgrade to a newer version of Internet Explorer, just that since it isn't practical at the moment, I'm keeping Internet Explorer 6 until whatever websites are essential to me (including BetaArchive) are no longer functional within it, then I'll upgrade.
You all seem to think that I use Internet Explorer 6 out of mere preference: The truth is that I don't want to use Internet Explorer 6 at all. However, carrying out a major system configuration change, I think, is a bit pointless just for a browser, especially since there are much more important reasons to reinstall Windows (there is not much difference between Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 and Windows XP Service Pack 3 anyway, so I'm basically just reinstalling Windows for a browser in that case, since that's the only real advantage).
My favorite version of Internet Explorer: Internet Explorer 8 (I also like Internet Explorer 10 due to its inclusion with Windows 8, a version of Windows that I am greatly fond of).
Finally, even as much as I myself have a great desire to upgrade to a newer version of Internet Explorer, what is all this "hatred" for something that is just outdated? Seriously, I think betaluva is correct - you shouldn't flame Internet Explorer 6 just because it's "old", although I myself much prefer the newer browsers. Infact, I find it so pointless to fight over all of this because it's only software, I mean, it's already bad enough that we fight about betas, so it would be even worse if we started fighting over browsers.
Excuse the long post, but people really need to find other things to argue about than just software (as if it's some political, religious, and/or philisophical ideology, as such people as Richard Stallman would try to convince you).

Well, reinstalling Windows in itself can be quite a long process, so I would rather not go through the trouble of risking my personal Windows installation (it's not the same as if it was one of my beta testing and/or experimental installations). Laziness has nothing to do with it - I've also been working with Windows 8, even writing a review for everyone here, so I don't even have the time to carry out such a procedure on my normal Windows installation.
I only made a long post explaining the situation, as opposed to people just guessing what's going on based on mere assumptions (and no offence to any of you, either).
Anyway, I seriously think we should get back on topic, since this topic is about desktop screenshots as of February 2012, not fighting over who has what version of what browser and why.
Ontopic: I'm also going to be posting the desktop of my Windows 8 installation soon (yes, the same one that I'm using to write my review), just that I wanted to provide my personal Windows installation's desktop first.

Well, I was about to update my signature anyway with a "delayed" notice (partly since I knew that other people might notice it), but I haven't had the time.
Also, as far as Google is concerned, all search engines are more or less the same, and as far as I know, more or less based on Google anyway. And Windows NT 5 refers to Windows 2000 (5.0), Windows XP (5.1), and Windows Server 2003 (5.2), whereas Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 refer to the different updates to that operating system, before anyone is confused.
Again, why are we fighting over software anyway? Some people seem to take the whole thing way too seriously (not naming anyone specific, and no offence to anyone here).
And the soccer incident in Egypt really does show how serious the consequences for such "fighting" can get, so please, I think we should all think seriously before we type. People hate each other for the most pointless things ever. I mean, it's NOT like it's a political, religious, or philosophical difference - it's software.
Also, I have no problem with Firefox whatsoever as far as its functionality is concerned, or even competing with other browsers, its the attitude associated with it that offends me (I mean, they basically invented it to get rid of Internet Explorer's market share, which is what I'm offended by, and not by the browser itself).
Please, I mean no offence. I don't even want to be using an older browser, yet you all take it as if I pledge allegience to it. I do NOT support the browser wars, nor do I want to be involved in any way possible. Can't we at least have some peace? It's getting to the point where people can't even discuss their own software anymore because people on the "other side" are deeply offended. It's getting to the point where the software world is now divided by sectarian lines of all things...
This community was created for a peaceful coexistance, and if anything, to get away from all of this software-related flaming. I'm strictly with mrpijey on this one (and, although linuxlove disagrees in some ways with how I handle other people's situations here, he did make a great post about similar types of fighting, both online, and in real life, so I also suggest you to read that, since it really is a great read).
The last thing this community needs is to be involved in the browser wars. Let's just calm down, forget all about that, and finally return to what this topic was originally (and peacefully) intended for.
