I love Metro UI and I think that I will be a future Windows 8 User... acconding to me I think that Windows 8 may not be accepted as well as Windows 7 from consumers... (because people like my father for example when he saw Windows 8 he said that "Microsoft is going to complicate things") and... about Windows 7... I'm sure it will be the new "XP"... what do you think about that?

We will not be able to tell until the Beta. At the moment Metro is terrible. Even if they make Metro better I still prefer the old interface without Metro bugging me. But the ribbon and the better performance are winners.

It is both too confusing and too simple.

Well I think that you're the same as my father xD because his first os was Windows 2000... then he moved to XP (Not so much different from 2000) then to Vista (Argh! xD) and now he finds Windows 8 so complicate... I think that microsoft shouldn't have done this so big change... plus i think that enterprises will find it totally unuseful (with all respect) but i'm sure that it will be a little success on tablets

I agree that businesses and enterprises will find it useless. The Metro interface is only useful on Tablets. And then it still needs more freedom to customize it. We will see what the Beta is like.

Well I think that beta experience will be something different from developer preview's one... because we saw in leaked screenshots that microsoft is improving the system by adding the possibility to customize it a bit... we saw that you can change the start screen color, give a name to program groups et cetera... and they should at least let the possibility to enable/disable Metro Interface because it's very boring to go to the metro start menu, choose search and enter the app text... very boring... i prefer the old start menu to launch desktop programs such as accessories because new installed applications already appear on the start screen... maybe there should be the possibilty to create folders on the start screen!

I personally can't wait for the Beta. It will be the first real/full showing of what Windows 8 will become.

Personally I will not me using Windows 8. I already have the misfortune of using 7 instead of XP, but only because there are only a few missing features and complications. I tested the developer preview of windows 8 the other day and absolutely could not stand it. Not because it was a virtual machine, but because I don't like it. Now as a tablet operating system, yes. But for laptops and desktops? No.

Guess what...
You left out Windows 2000.
Also, Windows XP was absolutely horrid upon launch. Google around a bit for old articles like "why windows xp sucks" and you'll see what I mean. It was the same issue as Vista, but there were fewer stupid computers around back then to blow it out of proportion. Now that service packs are out, XP and Vista are both excellent OSes. You argument, good sir, is invalid.
And if Microsoft can make Windows 8 anything like they've made WP7 then they'll have a hit on their hands if they integrate it with Windows Phone and XBox Live (which I don't doubt they're going to have PC games with xbox live integration).
Metro, on the other hand, I'm on the fence about. I'm not making any calls yet since all we've seen is a dev preview implementation of Metro on a desktop, but Metro on a phone/tablet? Awesome. Metro on a laptop? Ew. Trackpad. Metro on a desktop? Maybe.

I think Windows 8 will succeed, but not because I like it (I have mixed feelings on it). The majority of home computer users anymore are people like my grandmother, who just want to surf the web and read their email, and not much more. They want simplicity, which the Metro UI gives them. When we complain it's TOO simple, it's usually because we're trying to do something complicated that most users don't worry about. For the everyday tasks most people want, Win8 is perfectly designed, and for that reason I think it will sell well.

As long as classic Explorer is still there it will do well. Microsoft has done work to cut down resource usage in Windows 8. It should still be very compatible with older software and Windows NT 6.x drivers so I don't see what issues people will have besides turning off Metro if they want the classic look.

@kni You skipped Windows 2000, which wasn't so bad after all.
I think you have to rethink your algorithm
I meant home-oriented Windows versions. Windows 2000 could perfectly be used at home, but it was oriented to business. It was the antecessor of Windows XP Pro and Windows Server 2002/2003

Mixing 9x and NT hurts your case.
And anyone who thought Vista was bad clearly didn't use it on vaguely decent hardware or post-SP1.

Uhmm I'm sure it will be a success on tablets but i don't think that metro ui is "useless" you can choose between classic and metro ui but the problem is if you can't enable the "classic" windows 7 start menu because as i said before it's very boring that to open the control panel for example i must go first to the start screen then select metro control panel and then more options and bla bla bla so... it's annoying!!! Plus i very hate the "shutdown-metod" in windows 8 i hope microsoft will fix that

I don't think so... This is only a build with limited features. Everything will change until RTM, and the Beta already has many improvements for desktop users (like me). You can't base your opinion on Windows 8 on what you've seen in the WDP. The WDP is only a rough sketch of what Windows 8 should eventually be
