You will need to install the drivers for the videocard that is in use by that system.
Otherwise it is not possible to set other resolutions.

Also, why is that needed, the standard resolutions are fine, unless you try to install an ancient OS onto an newer machine with widescreen.

There was some app called PowerStrip back then. Though it doesn't work with modern graphics card drivers, but as you are running Windows 9x and NT4, it may work.

I got installed normally driver, but there are option to edit some INF files or something like that ? And I tried with PowerStrip, but on the end can't set resolution.

Well, unless you can write your own driver, and PowerStrip doesn't help, you can't do anything. Putting in an another newer graphics card still compatible with your slot type and operating system will help.

It is important to note that many of these higher resolutions were not supported on older computers. For example, 1280×1024 requires about 4 megabytes at 24 bit color.

I got 2 old laptops, one with 2 MB graphic card, second with 8 MB, and on that with 2 MB, I can set 1280x1024. So in what way I have to write my own driver ? I mean INF file, with that resolution ? I was thinking about VirtualBox some INF or registry info files, because if I can set for example 965x563 resolution, so maybe there are a way to pick it from virtualbox guest driver ?
