Wanna know why?

Well, let's start off by saying that I own an account called TwiIightSparkle. The video was in no way related to My Little Pony.

My friend (wagnC) decided to troll YouTube. By sending a false copyright complaint against a video. The video was his, yes, so I gave him permission to use my account for trolling YT.

And guess what?
YouTube ACCEPTED the copyright complaint. I LOLD.



I was laughing my butt off. I kinda knew it would happen, considering they don't look at spelling (Hasbro and Habsro are different, YouTube.) when My Little Pony videos are taken down. Also, considering the fact Universal Music Group could take down ANY video they feel they don't like.

Discuss how stupid the copyright claim procedure is on YouTube.

Pretty sure Youtube is legally bound to take down ANY video that has a copyright claim against it. There's no provision for investigation of the claim. It's not Youtube that's stupid, it's the US law that requires them to ACT like that that is stupid.

this is in no way funny at all people work hard on there videos just for you to make a prank copyright claim on them this sould be taken down as it's relates to trolling 4chan is the place to go if your going to do this kind of stuff

I'm with chrisjose1913, at least on the "this is not funny" bit. No matter which way you approach it, the fact that you did this (and were ABLE to do this) isn't really all that amusing.

What's stupid is NOT YouTube in any sense, but rather the person of whom fabricated the supposed copyright claim in the first place. He should NOT have been doing this at all, so he is purely the one of whom to blaim, and NOT YouTube itself.

If it was me, I would try to explain to YouTube that the copyright claim was fake, and that no copyright laws had been breached.

i have to also add making fake copyright claims are not taken in a lightly manner if youtube not only can suspend your account but they want to take it a step further also file a law suit you should read there copyright info

Why? You do realize that he used a friends account to do a copyright claim against his own video, and had it taken down. He probably doesn't really need the video back, since he was the one who blocked it.

Youtube use any evidence of copyright, even it comes from your friend.

Why is YouTube stupid? The video was your friends, therefore, by the US law, and many other international laws, YouTube has full authority to take it down. Besides, it's YouTube. They can take down ANYTHING just because they feel like it. That's how internet life works. It's not funny at all. If you have significant proof that you own something, then it is yours.

The takedown notice was quite planned, and furthermore approved by both parties (Windows XP and wagnC) to be done, if they both agreed, why should you guys get upset?

The point being made was that YouTube don't launch proper investigations, they just take them down.
