I can't install Longhorn 4011. I'm using VMware Player 4.0.1 build-528992.
If I simply extract 4011 install.wim and insert it into the 4008 iso (I use UltraISO), during the file copy it says: "An error occured while copying files". I downloaded the 4011 iso twice, so I think it is not corrupted (its size is 664,709,120 bytes). Moreover, 4015 setup worked by using this same method.
Then I tried Longhorn Packet 1.1 by Pwned ( viewtopic.php?t=14327 ), but I can't install neither 4008 nor 4011 nor 4015. For example, my steps for 4015 are: 1. I boot from CD 2. modules loaded -> I press a key 3. easy setup -> I press Y 4. format hard drive -> I press Y 5. computer should be rebooted -> I press a key 6. rebooting 7. I boot from CD 8. modules loaded -> I press a key 9. easy setup -> I press Y 10. format hard drive -> I press N 11. I click "Install Longhorn" 12. welcome -> product key -> license agreement -> installation destination (i tried both to format and not to format) -> computer name -> file copy 13. "Phase 1 of setup has completed. Your computer will restart in a moment to begin phase 2." 14. rebooting
At this point: - if I boot again from CD, it will restart from phase 1 - if I boot from hard drive, it will say: "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" (clarification: the floppy drive is disconnected)
In the end, I compared what had been copied into the hard drive between phase 1 and phase 2 (4015 setup) by using the Longhorn Packet and by normal setup, and I discovered that some files are missing!

(Sorry to linuxlove for having bumped an old topic.)

I have implemented Easy Mode, and so far, it only seems to be working correctly with virtual machines, and it still doesn't work the right way sometimes. Sorry about that, I will fix it in the later versions.
Note that the 4011 from BetaArchive FTP server was corrupted last time I checked (it can have the same size as the non-corrupted one), so the error from this thread would pop up anyway.
Other than that, I can't think about anything, because it just works normally for me.
Also, the correct MD5 sum for the original 4011 ISO is:
I have recreated the .ISO with those instructions and I get the following MD5: FE3C9A441E9AF82723F8AD1D45D11935. But remember, if the .ISO if 1 byte different with the other .ISO from another person, the hash is different, the filename itsself doesn't affect this.

Actually, even this way, it will only work if the install.wim of 4011 is not corrupted, and it is corrupted on BetaArchive FTP.

According to the Microsoft Collection Book: http://www.microsoftcollectionbook.com/ ... ofessional you will need to ''dump'' the install.wim from Microsoft Windows Codename ''Longhorn'', Build 4011, into Build 4008 and then run the setup like the one from Build 4008.
And it really works ! Go for it. You can use PowerISO to insert the 4011 wim inside 4008 iso
