Just a few weeks ago, I was messing with an old power supply from a 486 machine while it was plugged in. I stupidly touched the wrong wires and got a full 120V shock across my hands... and let me tell you, it was not pleasant!

This one happened... well, just a few minutes ago.
I have a 1st Generation iPod Shuffle, and it had lots of music on it. And not just any music, but GOOD music, like We Will Rock You and Blitzkrieg Bop. And then today, for whatever reason, all of it went poof... and it was gone. All of it. But I didn't realize it yet. So I sat down to play my iPod, and there was alternating blinking green and orange lights. I kept pressing buttons, and nothing. So I picked up my computer, searched the web, and the first thing I did was shut it off, wait, and turn on again. Nothing. So I went to Windows Explorer, and wasn't showing the iPod as a disk like it should. So I went to iTunes, and found it strange that it didn't tell me "This iPod is synced to another computer...". I synced some music, disconnected, turned on, and pressed play. And low and behold, no alternating green and orange lights! It started playing! So I got some more music on it.
So yeah. I fixed it, but I'm not happy about losing all of those tunes though.

Well, let's just say that (and this has been further confirmed by Computer Stupidities, infact, I even reposted a story of such in late August 2008) there have been some people, of whom erroneously belived that the monitor was the computer. As such, if they had a CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor, they would open that up instead of the actual system unit itself, that is, if they ever thought that their system had a problem of which had to be repaired.

My god some people at my school think that. I once had to spend 20 minutes convincing a fellow schoolmate that the monitor is not the PC. He didn't believe me.

Well, some people apparently thought so (apparently, this was suggested by one of the people of whom turned in a story at Computer Stupidities), due to the fact that they had used such systems earlier as Commodore 64's and Apple II's, where the the system unit and keyboard were part of the same physical unit.
Also, it could even be as a result of other systems, including such later systems as the earlier Macintosh systems (also from Apple, obviously), as well as, more recently, the iMac (again, obviously from Apple), where the system unit and monitor were part of the same physical unit. There may have been other such systems, but I'll have to look online to search for information relating to other known systems of which had either type of design.

Schoolmates? Now try explaining this to someone who is related to you. I thought so.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that licking a car-battery is actually pretty fun and you should try it. Just don't do it if you've got piercings.

I'm a bit late (1 month and 3 days) but: My CPU fan had always been loose until one day when it just completely slipped out. I was playing GMod at the time so I wasn't aware. The computer only lasted a couple of minutes before turning off. Then, unaware of the fact that my CPU fan fell out, I turned my computer back on. Not a good idea. I kept overheating my just-bought-for-christmas Phenom II X6 1055T (which I'm using right now) until I bashed my keyboard against my computer, making a banging sound. I looked to find that my CPU fan was visible on the "floor" of my PC through the vents. So, I didn't have a computer for 5 days because of finding an appropriate time to fix the PC. (It was a self-repair) Just when the computer was all fixed, I lost my Internet for a week. How convenient.

I'm going to share my not-so-pleasant life with my Compaq Presario V5000.
It's an old laptop from 2004, but BOY DOES COMPAQ AND HP LOVE TO UNDERPOWER THEIR COMPUTERS.
My Compaq laptop had Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 2) and it was crashing hell of a lot. ROBLOX's updates also caused slowdowns but that's ROBLOX, possibly the worst online game in the history of the world. Once, I got really mad it and not thinking what I was doing, I pushed it to the "grid wall" of my bunk bed. Both hinges are now broken.
And how's the laptop now? It's fine - it's running Windows 2000 Professional after a lot of work trying to get it running on my Compaq Presario SR2125UK and giving the hell up.

Figures, it's a compaq. My parents have also had 3 compaq desktops and let me tell you, they all died in a year.

It could be worse.
I have a junky Compaq Presario 1215 laptop, with a cyrix Media GX cpu and Windows 95.
Not only is the CMOS dead, but it used to freeze up a LOT, just opening office would cause a hard freeze, and NT4 kept freezing a lot when I booted it up when I had that on there. Plus, the screen is blurry, the sound is a poor clone of the SB16, the PC speaker isn't even the usual digitized speaker, so games that use the PC speaker for music sound BAD, and the FM synth sounds laughibly bad...if it works. Oh, and there's no battery.

That is... the best one I've seen so far. xD

Quite recently : My sister had a 3,5" 500GB external HDD (brand WD). I once disassembled the enclosure. She nearly caught me with the enclosure disassembled, so I assembled it as fast as I could. The hard drive didn't want to connect to the SATA to USB converter, so it behaved as if it was broken. She proceeded to slap my face 15 times, and then she yelled to me "FIX IT OR I WILL KILL YOU!!!!!" Literally. I disassembled the enclosure once again, and I left the hard drive with only the adapter. She went like dancing in circles. But, holy [censored], my parents' face were like "Fix it or we'll throw your laptop through the window".

Mine:
Windows 8.
Why:
1. Unorganized "start" area. 2. Bad login screen. (its not a phone, so why do we pull down?) 3. Metro EVERYWHERE. Even in media player and IE. 4. Not compatible with 90% of software even in compatibility mode.
Windows 8 is not good for desktops or laptops. Dont get me wrong though, it is maybe a good idea as a WINDOWS PHONE release, but not a mainstream os. No offence to 8 lovers, but this will turn out like vista with all the changes. Just wait...

Favourite OS I don't pick favorites.
I have a new one now. Almost every time I would play NFS Shift 2 Unleashed, my computer would crash about 15-20 minutes into playing it. I tried many things with drivers, software, etc. then after I had completely installed a new copy of windows 7, which I thought would fix it, it continued to do the exact same thing. I decided it was my videocard overheating, and, tada!, it was. My GPU was reaching excess of 100 degrees Celsius, stupid me. I installed an Arctic Cooling Accelero Mono Plus, which brought my temps down to 60 degrees and fixed the problem for good.
