IMPORTANT: If you want the latest news on Freebie, go here!

Hey guys, I'm making an OS called Freebie in assembly. I just started it today (11-20-11), so it isn't much yet.

Website:
http://freebieos.tk (http://freebie.goodluckwith.us)

How to edit:
Download an 8086 assembly editor (such as emu8086) and open the .asm file in the source. That's all you have to do!

Download source:
Version 0.0.2: http://freebie.goodluckwith.us/0.0.2/freebiesource002.zip
Version 0.0.1: http://freebie.goodluckwith.us/0.0.1/freebiesource001.zip

Credits to How To Do Things!

Well... your project is interesting...

But I feel disappointed (not with you)...

How can I make an OS in assembly with that small piece of code? Well, when I hear about Windows... I think about thousands and thousands lines of code.

But, having even a welcome message, in a source code that fits in my screen... it is incredible.

I encourage you to continue with your project, and I'll try to help. I don't understand a lot of assembly, but I can learn and I'll also help you in other things related to the os.

Most ASM custom OSes you'll find here only use small pieces of code.

I really want to try this out, but both website links are broken. If someone can e-mail Freebie to me or something that would be amazing!

I doubt the links are fixable since the author has probably abandoned his project by this point. Lots of things like these don't last that long once the programmer discovers how truly difficult it is to write an operating system from scratch.
