Timetravel is impossible , sorry guys . For that you need a worm hole if it exists! If you travel faster than light nothing special happens, you just see the world different. Just last month we found particles , which travel faster than light. After the Big Bang any particle traveled faster than light

but thats a fact. Neutrinos are faster than light... When you are faster than light , you can see how you overtake the other waves. A bit like Like in Star wars, where the Light get stretched. It's not that dark.

Then what happened to the theory nothing can go faster than the speed of light? And does the demise of this theory affect other theories?

Einstein made that theory... Actually if this theory is wrong we have to "rethink" many things! But we found out that 2 ms after the big bang until some minutes after the big bang subparticles traveled through the univserse really faster than the light. So that shows not everything in Einsteins theory is right

Wow what? How did we find out specific details like that from the big bang?

Keep in mind that the "big bang" is still only a theory at this point.
It's not a theory if you can make some compromises! First you need to accept that Something can be created out of nothing. This energy is high-concentrated on one small point! When it exploded (E*Mc^2) the energy formed subparticles. If you can make these compromises ,this is not just a theory , it is approved.

Maths/Physics and simulated universes in super-computers can do much more as you and me can think of.

But the question is where would you be once you slow down? Same time?
No, because that would be tantamount to teleportation. Faster-than-light travel would still take TIME, just not as much as sublight. For example, if you were to go 4c you would reach the nearest star in about a year (since it's roughly 4 lightyears away IIRC). It is no more logical to assume time travel when at supralight speeds than it is to assume the same result for going 88 miles per hour.
ViennaXP: I don't know what source you're reading, but I have never heard ANYTHING about neutrinos being faster than light. The only supralight particle I've heard of is tachyons, and those are still theoretical.
Smorgan: EVERYTHING is governed by laws of physics. NEWTONIAN physics may not apply, but frankly, Newtonian physics don't always apply on Earth either. And IIRC this discussion isn't about time travel, it's about the results of traveling faster than light.

That's only the news though, not necessarily true, it may still be that neutrinos are slower than light and those other theoretical ones are faster.

Sorry about that, I guess some of us in this discussion aren't physicists.
I have to apologise too (you have nothing to apologise for ), the way I write at times seems like I'm insulting/berating people, I always forget that on the net peeps can't hear or see me when I write in things.
Da, I understand the Neutrino bit, I wasn't insinuating anything, just adding a link to the news article.
My dry Humor/Sarcasm can be my undoing at times, especially when I forget I have to expand a little on what I really mean, sorry.
The brick wall comment was made just after I woke up; I just dislike at times when people are so certain to everything that they just can't do a 3 word search in a Search Engine just to make sure what they're really saying/know is actually correct or partially correct or just plain wrong.

Having read the article, I will concede that this seems fairly compelling evidence for neutrinos being faster than light, at least under some conditions. I find it interesting, though, that these scientists are worried about "sending messages to the past" and "wreaking havoc on traditional cause and effect", when by their own experiments the only result of traveling faster than light was arriving sooner.

We'll have to see how the fast-than-light-neutrino thing pans out after a while. The researchers are already trying to address concerns with their method of coming to that conclusion.
In the mean time, here's something interesting that you can actually see happening.

Concerns? News story didn't mention that....I'll have to do more research.

Showed this to a friend the other day. He thought it was a hoax.

Again, my apologies.
Actually I was being a bit sarcastic with my comment too, I didn't think you were insulting.
I linked to the exact same article as you a few posts back too

Man you can 't send anything into the past! When you are faster than light , it's like travelling with 100 km/h although only 75 is allowed. For past sending you need a theoretical worm hole. It's really nothing special about traveling faster than light.

That was my point, dude. It's what I've been saying all along. Also, even a wormhole wouldn't cause time travel, because by definition a wormhole is simply a shortcut between two points in space. It would get you there WAAAAY fast, but it wouldn't be time travel.

The faster a clock travels, the slower it is observed to run. so if you were to reach the speed of light, then to an observer you would appear to freeze in time. As for what you would expierience, you could carry on regardless, cause a wormhole, travel in time and space, break the universe, etc... No-one really knows. Would be fun to find out though.
