Hi everyone,
since there are many Users of Old Systems or many Users who only trust old system ( ;), I thought to create a portal for old Windows Systems where you can download software for it. So you don't have to search hours in the Internet to find a Version ,which runs on Windows 2000 for example. Additionally it should give Informations about the favored system (tips etc.) and new Software (as I develop for old systems). I would set up a server at home , and would collect software and you can download it via a website...

But first I want to ask ,if you habe any interest in "Unsupported"?
Or ideas?

Let me know :)

Have a nice day

People can contact me, when they found a good software for the old OS (no crap-software from mini companies). Or when they are "Old-Developer" like me, they can send my the software and I will do it on the website

Try oldversion.com They've got every version of most software that is available back to V1.x in most cases (you can get nearly every version of MSN and AIM and iTunes there easy.)
Anything that was available for free is there back as far as they have it.

All Microsoft operating systems!
As far as I'm concerned, Windows 2000 doesn't count, since it's still the same operating system as Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (Windows NT 5, obviously). For me, this would count for any version of MS-DOS and/or Windows of which is not of Windows NT 5 (Windows 2000 Beta 3 onwards) or later.

From what I see, it's already quite easy to find such software online anyway, since it has been uploaded and/or reuploaded to such a massive and thorough extent, not to mention that much of it is even available here on BetaArchive.

@pizzaboy: Yes, it has old versions of programms but this is no guarantee ,that this version runs on old versions. Goal of Unsupported will be to create a portal with all good programms for this specific version of Windows.

@WinPC : I think today it's not normal like in the past that XP Programms run on Windows 2000. But overall you are right.

At all, you can give it a shoot.

Why only Beta 3 and onwards? AFAIK Windows 2000 had kernel version 5.0 since the very beggining... :?

Well, Beta 3 and onwards, Windows 2000 has had the same codebase as that of the Windows NT 5 of which is publically available, meaning that there would be no need whatsoever to maintain an archive of such "old" software anymore, since almost anything written for Windows NT 5 will run fine on Windows 2000 at least as early as Beta 3.

Earlier builds of Windows 2000 were still rather early in development, and as such, would apply here, since there may be software of which can run on the Windows NT 5 that we know of today, but not Windows NT 4.0, or any builds of Windows NT 5 of which are still closer to the Windows NT 4.0 codebase for that matter, meaning that, for example, while software of which is compatible with Windows NT 4.0 will almost certainly run fine on Windows NT 5.0 (later Windows 2000, codenamed "Memphis NT") Build 1515, software of which is specifically designed for the Windows NT 5 of which we know today, may very well not, as if the attempt to run it was on a machine running Windows NT 4.0, rather than Windows NT 5 in any sense of the word. However, since Build 1946 of what was by then renamed to Windows 2000 by that point, basically the same codebase as that of the Windows NT 5 that was released publically, software written for Windows NT 5 today will almost certainly run on Build 1946, that is, as long as there is no conflict relating to the differing version numbers (5.00.1946, rather than 5.00.2195.xxxx, 5.10.2600.xxxx, or 5.20.3790.xxxx).

At home I've got a little old server from a datacenter, there I will collect the .exe s

As I open for any ideas, I won't programm the whole website on my pc and upload it ,when it's finished. I do a "Open Development", so you can see anytime what I've done yet.
URL (temporary): http://unsupported.docs-systems.com (really important! Without http://www.! If a blog is loaded [thats my main page] do unsupported.docs-systems.com/index.html !)
So lets do THIS!

So you're planning on working straight online, rather than first on your pc and doing bulk updates to the site.
Pretty cool.
But that also means that at the moment we have a site, but with no content.

Maybe my development speed is a bit to slow for somebody out here, but notice I have to to the German Abitur (A-Levels or whatever you call it in your state) in 2 years so I have a real life ,too.
But now I have enough time to create a simple Design and begin to collect software ;)
Edit: I'm working on a Metro-like Design... maybe it will be good, else I develop a other Design :D

EDIT 20:53 (German Time): Design seems to be ready :) http://unsupported.docs-systems.com/design/start.html (test page, have look, feedback?) IMPORTANT watch the side with latest browser

Metro Design is cool, and you were able to implement it well, but considering this is the Unsupported project, maybe you could try something that signifies it (although I'm not sure what)?

Update:
New Choose Site is online (for me the background won't load? Anyone can see it (for me only color)). The old will be deleted soon.
First Content added and I started to collect software. First Downloadslinks will be done this weekend. For more information check out:

Test the choose site (modern view... I will write a PHP script ,which loads the classic choose site when User-System is older than XP):
