I've heard it has a huge packet problem, as in 81% loss using 11.10 and 0% loss using 10.04 on the same computer. Not sure what the network card was though but it seems that is a huge bug.

one of the good sides of 11.10 is if you want to use gnome 3 you don't have to abandon unity. just install go to the cog (if you are using lightDM) and select gnome.

I'm running it on the PC I'm beta-testing (touch-screen FTW). I agree, it's MUCH less buggy than 11.04 was. I also like the slightly upgraded visual theme and the new Software Centre. As for network performance, I noticed no difference between my Ubuntu and Windows installs.

Unity is simply a shell that runs on top of GNOME. It can be uninstalled, or you can swap it out for GNOME 3, GNOME 2.x, XFCE, KDE, etc. Personally, I like the old GNOME setup, but Unity works for me as well so I'm not complaining.

I'm running it on both of my computers,on my laptop as dual-boot with Windows 7 and on my netbook as my only Operating System.I must say I like it really much. The Software Center has been improved in many ways, the Unity Dash is now much more handy with the new lenses, and Unity is more stable and better-looking in general. The LightDM login is far better than the other ones.I haven't had any problems with my internet speed too.The downside is that it's kernel has a power drain issue that will be fixed later. I also use GNOME Shell too,but I must say,it isn't as good for me as Unity.

Yeah, the power drain issue is a little annoying. However, I have faith that it's on their list of urgent fixes. One small note is that it IS much more fluid on a touchscreen than on a keyboard/mouse setup.

Yeah, their update process kinda sucks. I always update from a disc.

Actually,it always worked perfectly fine for me without any problems. It usually takes me around an hour or so.And nothing is broken or missing afterwards.

(shrug) Maybe it's a matter of the update server I'm connected to. I've used three different PCs since I started using Ubuntu, and on each one the update process would freeze after about 90 minutes. The OS would throw a kernel panic a few minutes later, and my half-updated install would be ruined. So now I just don't bother.

I haven't had time to install it yet but for anyone who doesn't know the Software Center how has user ratings and reviews, which I thought was a great addition.

They had those in the old version too, QW. They were just much less accessible. It IS great that they made it so easy this time around.

Worked fine for me and I love it but until I get a different mouse I'll have to stick with only Windows (this mouse won't left click anything until I log out and back in, only on Windows). I was particularly impressed by the driver support for the modern custom build I have though and Unity seems to be doing much better nowadays.

I have a similar problem. Sometimes Unity won't close, sometimes it won't open, sometimes it's so frustrating to use that I'm now installing Mint on my computer.

The main problem I have with unity is error messages popping up constantly, but I think it stopped. I use Ubuntu only as a virtual machine, mainly just testing it out, currently running Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2 64bit.
