Probably because he is using a non-Retail image with patched kernel, so if he updates, the system won't boot then.

You can even do it yourself, just install the update, boot the Recovery disc, and replace the newer kernel with the older patched one. But probably it's too hard for him, that's why he stays at 10.6.6.

You should better say at first that you are on a hackintosh. You can do the method explained by Pwned, more easily, with MultiBeast by tonymacx86

Guys, the issue here is that for whatever reason, in Pakistan he can't buy this Facebook app for his Mac. Not that he has no money. Even the fact that he's on Hackintosh is pretty much irrelevant. Anybody have any solutions for that?

Yes, just use Facebook in Safari. I don't know, but Twitter has its own app for free.

OK, here is what you need to do:

0. Back up your Mac files. If you have Windows installed on the same hard drive, you can also lose its files, if you're doing something wrong, but that doesn't happen in most cases. If you don't want to risk your data, don't continue. But I never feared.
1. Download this: http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL13 ... 10.6.8.dmg
2. DON'T INSTALL YET! Run Terminal. Type:

Enter your password, and press enter. No errors should come up in the terminal.
3. Install the 10.6.8 combo update.
4. After installation, DON'T reboot.
5. Install this: http://depositfiles.com/files/adc62chyy
^ I haven't tried this exact version, took it from another Russian guide, but it should work, choose Install Location, and pick the one, that is your Chameleon booting from.
6. DON'T reboot once again. Install these kexts (http://depositfiles.com/files/11ocal3jr) using the Kext Utility, which you may find in Google.
7. Download and install this: http://depositfiles.com/files/g52xhr5tc
8. Then you can reboot and see if it works, but again, your data should be backed up in case.
