Hi guys. I am experiencing this problem for, oh, let's say 3 weeks now (around there). My internet has been painfully slow. I installed a bandwidth monitoring tool and I have found out that I do not exceed 500MB download in a day, but I have also found out that my PC is constantly uploading, around 30MB a day. I looked at the reports and found this to be due to the Atheros Ethernet etc... that I don't use since I'm on WiFi. This seems to slow the upload speed down, but it is still CONSTANTLY uploading something. I know WiFi is not supposed to be super fast, but to have a higher upload speed than my download is just absurd. It is also like this for every other computer in my house. Any help in solving this is issue is appreciated and I can provide you guys with speed and ping tests if needed.

30MB in one day is nothing. It's just normal traffic. I use GB's in a day both up and down.

If you're on ADSL, try replacing your ADSL filters. That's the first course of action.

I should have probably mentioned this, but I'm on a cable modem. I am going to take suggestions for a couple more days and then I'm calling the company.

Have you tried resetting your modem\router? This is usually what I have to do to get my speed back when it drops on all computers.

Reset? No. I have rebooted both of them but not reset them. I will try this.

If it's cable then chances are your signal levels are out of whack. You will need a technician from the ISP to come and fix that.

You will be uploading if you use the Internet, period. Also, Atheros makes WiFi chipsets, so the upload bandwidth you are seeing is over WiFi.

Run speed test a few times and give us the results. Then plug your computer into the router and do the same, also give us those results. Now plug your computer directly into the cable modem and run speed test a few times again. This will help determine if the problem is with WiFi, the router, or the modem/service itself.
