so here's some of my ideas, feel free to steal or modify ideas for any use:

An operating system that looks and navigates like a PlayStation 3. I fell in love with the XrossMediaBar and how everything is organized. Now bare with me, I think it should be made from Linux, any distribution that would work best and have the PlayOnLinux software built right into it for gaming purposes (along with some sort of PlayStation 2 emulator) and have hardware support for controllers, gaming keyboards and gaming mice. I do not know much about software or how the majority of it works but if this could be made, I think it would be very popular. possible names for this OS could be: PCS3OS, PCXBOS, XMBOS, PCXMBOS or something along those lines.

Another idea was to slap Microsoft in the face with a version of windows 7 made with Linux code and kernel. yes i know there is transformation packs, but a Linux distribution that can do nearly everything (and a few things windows cant do) windows 7 can do, and looks like windows 7. Lets face it, new comers to computers who do not want to pay an arm and a leg for an operating system, that do not intend to play video games on their computers but are familiar with windows, would welcome this distribution with open arms. a completely free version of windows 7, that is not made by Microsoft and only of the surface appears to be.

Note: i do not intend to start a versus war over this post, do not intend to start Linux versus Windows kind of talk. remember the rules we all agreed to, to be members of this site

ReactOS is supposed to be a free Windows compatible OS. Its not 100% stable and it looks similar to the Windows Classic theme. Putting the Windows 7 theme on a regular Linux distro would confuse people who didn't know better and could get you into trouble with Microsoft. ReactOS is different enough that you can tell it's not Windows.

Why not build a custom OS based on the WRK? with an XMB interface? Would be much more fun, messing with NT > messing with linux.

KDE's Plasma interface is pretty close to what you're looking for. I always thought the XMB would work best on touch interfaces, though.

Just a pity Plasma is coded pretty poorly. It has crashed on many systems for me and a few others.

Yeah. It crashed on my old laptop, much to my dismay. If it could be improved, though, it would be awesome...
