what they mean is is that it will have the Metro UI i just won't run in immersive mode it will run on the desktop

Of course it's not going to be immersive - Office 15 still has to work on Windows 7, and probably Vista too.

I have my doubts anyway as to how well such a complex suite of applications would translate into immersive anyway - look at Office for WP7, or the Onenote application on a range of platforms, they're very cut down, even on the iPad, and that's because you just can't fit the same level of functionality in an entirely touch-friendly package.

Windows Developer Preview - 8102
It'll likely be like the Beta we say. A more squared off metro look but not a full-screen touch app. Which works for a word processor.

sorry, i forgot metro ui and immersive ui were two different things. I'm really going to have to see how well the two work together before I can ruelly judge anything about Windows 8 and its applications.

They're probably making only Metro, not Immersive.
