A quick look at Amazon and googling tells me the surround effect is marginal at best and the sound quality over all isn't all that good. Get some Sennheiser or AKGs, as expensive as you can afford, avoid models designed to be portable since they're usually crap. If you're running them off your sound-card get something with a low impedance (around 50 ohm).

Bose headphones are awesome, but again expensive. Their sound quality however is astonishing, as is the outside noise filtration.

I wouldn't personally buy surround headphones but this isn't really the place to look for advice about them. This is the solution you're looking for: http://www.head-fi.org/
Really, read the forums.
My first pair of decent headphones was Sennheiser HD280 Pro's, they worked okay without an amp. Then I bought a pair of Shure SRH840s and they simply are unlistenable without an amp. So make sure you know what you're getting yourself into when you buy high-end headphones.
Expensive for good quality headphones? Sure, but it certainly beats the price for high-end speakers.
I hate that everyone loves Bose simply because of their commercials and I'll never buy a pair simply because of it and I'm sure you're going to go "I heard the display model, blah blah blah." Save it. If Wal-Mart spent as much money on image as Apple and Bose you'd all be shelling out double the money for store brand products. On top of that, noise cancellation has been around for quite a few years and practically every headphone manufacturer and their mother has the tech. I vaguely remember seeing something about it even being built into cars now.

Or actually Plantronics has some great USB ones, I use an Audio 510. The Sennheiser are great but expensive. The last ones I used weren't the greatest because they were connected to a crappy Sound Blaster Audigy SE (a terrible choice).

Maybe you guys should hear the voice of earphones yourself . Earphones are easy to be damaged, I don't think you should spend lots of money for those. I've just found a 35-yuan earphone (might be a fake philips) in a market year ago but just works good enough for me.

Huh? The only time mine were damaged was when a dog chewed the pads off of them... and even then there were replacements available for only like $10.
These things falls off my desk at least twice a week and occasionally the obnoxiously long cable gets rolled over by my desk chair and they still work fine. I've had them for at least a year. My friend still has my Sennheiser pair, which I bought in 2006.

FWIW I have a pair of Pioneer SE-A1000s, they're pretty damn solid but need a high current driver. I recently burned out my PortaPros while testing a transistor based amplifier I dropped something on but that's not exactly a likely circumstance.
