Because NT 3.0 is currently on delay, I will make a Windows 98 style version of NT 4, Windows NT 4.1, or NT 98, witch ever you want to call it for a place holder. If NT 3.0 is cancelled, there will be this to satisfy you guys. So, heres the info.
Codename: Memphis NT (that was an early Windows 2000 codename, but this is really gonna be like it)
Feature list:
IE 4 integration (X) NT 4.1 version number in the registry and explorer (X) Windows 98 style icons (X) Start menu to say "Windows NT 4.1" (X) The welcome stuff of Windows 98 (X)
Builds:
1400 will be the first build, 2010 will be the final build.
What wont be implemented:
Title bar gradients: Not that important. ISO installer: Not to that level yet. May release transformation pack in ISO format, though, for people with slower connections.
Open to suggestions for this OS.

Me too. So, I'm gonna take a little bit of a different route. Nashville NT as the codename (calling a final after a codename seems a little strange). I'm gonna put in a new bitmap in place of that "IE 4 preview release", too. There may also be fewer builds, unless I get some more suggestions. Not to much to implement. Also, do you guys know of a way to get rid of the "This IE 4 preview release has expired" message at startup? Thanks.
EDIT: Pre-alpha release is now DONE! It will be on my FTP, but on a different account for testers. Account details will only be sent to testers. Will upload later today. The archive will include some other files, so please save those too!

Try to use this guide: http://microsoftcollectionbook.com/inde ... svirtualpc and set the date into 31 January 1997. I think it works. EDIT: If it doesn't work, try to uninstall IE 4 Preview and try to install again with the date adjusted to 31 January 1997.
I'm not to that level where I can make an installer for the OS. Sorry.
Another idea...Why not include firefox with the OS?
Sure, as soon as I can put SP6a on it. Here's a tester duty for you: On the SHARE disk, there is an application called sp6i386 or something. Open it and install SP6 from and confirm that its working with IE4 beta. Thanks.

Sorry. SHARE does not boot.
The NT 4.1 VHD (the big one) to boot it. Use the SHARE disk as a secondary VHD, and go to its drive letter and run sp6i386.exe from there.

Actually. I installed SP6a. Whoops if I wasn't supposed to.

No. It crashes Windows Explorer. But this is not from the SHARE disk so...
