After skulking around Twitter for I don't know how long, I came across this tweet that says that iOS 5 Beta 5 will be released Monday. Yes, for those who didn't know, Beta 4 has been released! Apple is coming out with updates fairly quickly, within a couple weeks, from the looks of it. Here's the tweet:

Quote:
Someone has just informed me of this: "iOS 5 Beta 5 will release this Monday, as B1=Mon/B2=Fri/B3=Mon/B4=Fri .. (cont) http://tl.gd/c6nnmm

Can anyone confirm this? If this is the case, I'm pretty sure we'll all be able to keep up to date more easily.

This was posted by me originally, I tweeted it and posted it on Facebook (Look up @PossessedTARDIS if you don't believe me).

I believe it's true as look at this pattern:

Beta 1 - Monday June 6th
19 Days
Beta 2 - Friday 24th June
21 Days
Beta 3 - Monday 11th July
11 Days
Beta 4 - Friday 22nd July
It's been 16 days, and will be 19 on the 8th August
Beta 5 - Monday 8th August

Then we will likely see a GM by the end of August with a release in September alongside the supposed launch of the iPhone 5 and likely also the iPod Touch 5G.

What about a "No, I can't be bothered" option? Lol. Are there untethered jailbreaks available for the betas? Because if there are, I might DL a beta for my iPod touch 4th gen.

You have it backwards… Android looks and has features like iOS…

It seems to me that Google has a large ego as well… What with the logos they wrap around Buses and Bus shelters… And the "Powered by Android" tags on phone ads… And the… Why do I bother…

At least Google mostly make free (and some open-source) stuff. But yeah, AFAIK, iOS was around before Android anyway.

Open-Source huh?

It's not ego, it's called advertising. Plus, as a user of both (although I prefer Android) I can say that both companies have "stole" ideas from each other.

Apple Fanboys: Where did that iOS 5 feature Notification Center come from? A bar that you grab like a window shade? Couldn't have been in Android since Android 1.0 could it?
Google Fanboys: Slide to unlock... Where have we seen that before?

Me, I won't be trying iOS 5. My old 2nd Gen iPod Touch can't run iOS 5, and it doesn't look like there's a way to hack it, so I suppose I'm stuck at 4.x now.

Prefer Android myself, but I shall update my sister's 4G touch to 5.0 when it's released.

And yes, quite a lot of iOS and Mac OS X are indeed open source. Still wish Apple would make it more customisable out of the box (i.e. at least let you change the UI colours, and perhaps switch between the glossy-type theme that can be found everywhere, and the matte-type theme you get on the iPad)

Google really doesn't invade my phone (HTC Wildfire), and tbh, iOS really sluggish and is really slow. I have it on my iPod touch. iOS = Huge disappointment to me. Even worse than Windows Media Player 11 and 12, where they took away a WHOLE LOT of good stuff.

Android development started in 2003 iirc, Google bought the company in 2005.

And sorry, but I too hate Apple because they cannot take competition. Examples are (not lawsuits) Mac vs. Windows, iTunes vs. Spotify, and of course, iOS vs. Android (Which actually is a lawsuit).
And Microsoft is just about getting on my nerves too.

(Tried the signature feature? phpBB boards, have it, including BA.)

I don't have a slide to unlock, it's just drag down. HTC Sense ftw :D

You think that is bad? I have an iPod Touch 1G luckily there are a bunch of people working on adding iOS 4/5 features to iOS 3/4… Its called whited00r…

http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=whited00r

Oh yeah, I have had time to play around with Google Android… I'm not impressed… I don't like the way all the apps aren't on the (desktop) when its started for the first time… among other things…

But, I would buy an android over Windows any day…

Yeah, I was about to post that iOS 5 beta 5 has, in fact, come out. Trying the OTA update process; my Settings app keeps crashing, though. I only hope it's still downloading!
