long story short, I'm on win7sp1
I don't have Telnet on it nor can I get it installed via Programs/Windows Features

so would it be possible to copy whatever files from XP or whatever NT onto my system
that it would work ? - and which files (exactly)

I have telnet server and telnet client options in add/remove Windows features on 7sp1. What SKU of Windows 7 have you got?

Just copied telnet.exe from Windows 2000 into my Windows 7 machine - No trouble in running it.

It is simple. But okay, break the EULA instead.

Run putty.exe (no installer needed)

See this and put the address in the Hostname field:

Then press Open and you get this:

The simpleton idea that anything you spend money on is something you own and can do whatever you like with is a plague.

You don't own it, regardless of what you would like to think. In fact, you quite possibly are not only breaking the EULA but also the law.

if you want to live in rented life, that's your problem
for everything I buy I get billed paper saying "you bought it"

in any case, this is going offtopic

Except that you didn't. You got a piece of paper saying that you bought a license to use it.

We aren't talking about prerelease software. The point I'm trying to make is that there is arguably better, free, simple to use software that you can use.

I break the EULA every day just by booting into my hacked together copy of Windows 7 - please don't turn me in. :-(
