Forum rules


Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

In fact this is a special localized version of Winword 2.0. It's unknown why they changed the version number for Simplified Chinese version. It runs best under Simplified Chinese Windows 3.1 or 3.2.

When I launched setup.exe in Windows 3.2, it throws up a TrueType error and then tries to destroy all the chinese characters and the cursor. Exiting Windows and trying to launch Windows again makes the chinese characters and the cursor appear again.

24=SIMSUN24.FON

in WIN.INI
and you may need 16MB or larger RAM, high res/high color display drivers for PWIN32.....

If it still crash, use another emulator/virtualizer such as DOSBox...

How to disable it?
EDIT: I have a idea for trying it on Chicago Build 225 chinese version. I installed Chicago and after the installation, I installed Word 5 into it and it works like a charm.

However this is Simplified Chinese (GB2312) version.. When you install it on Traditional Chinese (Big5) Windows, all Chinese characters in the UI will be gibberish as those in your image.

I'm very sure this is based on 2.0b or 2.0c as it tries to load MAPI.DLL at start.
However unlike the PWIN32 that still report itself as 3.1 in GetVersion) , WordBasic AppInfo$(2) returns 5.0 here.

Unless he contacted you about the problem, I doubt it was rejected, since this is a good addition to our collection. I suggest you wait until the next batch of uploads is released, and if still nothing, ask him what happened. ;)

I'm very sure that the Traditional Chinese exists, it must also be released in some Taiwan warez CD.

The Traditional Chinese version of this *does* exist, I have it on a warez CD that also includes some other zh-TW stuff (ami pro, win 3.1 zh-tw, pro image are the ones i can remember).
I uploaded an iso of that warez CD to AbandoNET ages ago, but AbandoNET is currently offline because of the development of AbandoNET v2.

I live in the UK, and the warez cd i mention was sold in the UK, to this day i have no idea why zh-tw stuff was put on it


The warez CD basically contains a lot of abandonware. I don't have a full list right now.

EDIT: and ABN is back up, if anyone wants said warez CD :p
