Hello all,

You might have noticed the new social buttons under the navigation. What do you think? Is it a good idea?

The reason I've added these is to try and help promote BA a little bit more via social websites like Google +1, Facebook and hopefully others eventually. I'd appreciate everyone's feedback on where they've been located and whether you think it's suitable or not, etc.

I like it! Possibly add Twitter in the future, many other website have a feature were it auto-tweets when there is a new thread with the title and link.

The Google +1 button is too small. hounsell has a solution for you though:

At the moment, just the site. I didn't see any point in being able to +1 topics on an entire forum.

Intrusive how? It's not like it pops up in your face shouting "LIKE ME, +1 ME"...

Definitely not intrusive. I think rolling out +1 for threads on the news page would be helpful promoting the site. Imagine thousands of people +1ing Windows 8 leak threads.

BTW, where are those Google text ads so that this place doesn't have to rely on donations and your own money?

If you read back a few topics in the Announcements forum you'll see that Google banned me from Adsense again, so no more ads. Anyway, donations are keeping on top of the costs at the moment.

I think a "Tweet this topic" button could be added in the future. It makes more sense than a "Tweet this site" button.

No, either they're gone or I'm just missing them (I looked under the Website Navigation, the board navigation for sub-forums, and everywhere else)
I'm using Google Chrome.
EDIT: Apperently JavaScript is blocked for BetaArchive, I've allowed it and it appears fine.

I somewhat like it. I don't think social popularity is needed though, as many, many people have already joined the site, and we have the method of telling your real life friends "You should check out this site!". However, there are some collectors out there that may just find this as the holy grail through that method.
