Thought I should share my little wired / ftp server with you guys, it's all classic mac software not any more, have dos / win stuff and console games as well now, and most of it is pretty standard, expect i have a large collection of apple developer disks (most of which isn't on here) and still have 20 - 40GB more to add. unfortunately my connection is pretty slow (as is the server) so don't expect speeds over 60kb/s Since getting fiber i have seen speeds of 1.2mb/s to the UK and 500kb/s to the US (note the gust account is limited to 20kb/s dl speed, to get a faster one you will need to upload and pm me for account OR if you guys want i could make a account for betaarchive users provided i get a enough uploads from you guys) anyways logon info:
Servers: KDX: Address: max1zzz.co.uk:10700 Port: 10700 (hence the :10700 on the end of the address) User: (None needed) Pass: (None needed)

5 KB/s maximum unless we upload stuff? I mean I wouldn't mind if the server was fast anyway, but the maximum we're gonna get anyway is 60 KB/s! I'd say, remove the download speed limit, seeing as the maximum is so slow anyway.

the reason for that is because of limited bandwidth, but as i have said, i can make a account for betaarchive users with a uncapped speed if i get some ul's from you guys, that sound fair?

What I'm saying is, nobody will want to upload if the benefit is an increase of 50 KB/s download speed on your server. I'm not saying it's your fault, but that's the way it is. So I don't think it'd be successful to ask for uploads. (I mean, sure, some people will upload because they're nice, but maybe not for the benefit of a tiny speed increase.)

well, it has been quite successful on Macintosh garden, and from my experience if you let people leech for free you get no uploads, i wouldn't be asking for much, just a few uploads every so often, i let people leech allot more than they upload because i know my line is slow

I got some Classic Mac stuff. I just need to go look for it. I know I do have the original MacWrite and MacPaint, Photoshop 0.63, some kind of Sega Genesis emulator for OS9, a program called "Styles" (a text editor for OS9) and some other stuff, but I need to look.

I cant connect wired or normally. And I'm on my Mac witch has all my Mac abondonware too. I am using AnyClient, as FileZilla doesn't work anymore on 10.4 PPC.

if your using wired you need to make sure you have :1500 on the end (so the address would be: max1zzz.co.uk:1500)
I can't see why ftp wouldn't be working though, unless you getting confused and mixing up the wired and ftp addresses
try using this from your web browser: http://max1zzz.co.uk:8000/ login with mg / mg, if you want to upload you need to login with upload / upload, it should work fine, but i cannot grantee that as i am testing it atm

Alright. I'll get to uploading stuff pretty soon, since I have a huge collection of Microsoft adandonware on one of my computers, and on my iBook I have tons of Mac abandonware.
