Hi,
Could someone please provide me a link for a tutorial or guides for complete beginner level on how to host a website on Windows Server 2008 R2.
I have registered my own domain, and want to host it in my own server. [FYI : This is just for learning purpose, so I don't want to hear any pros and cons]
I know some C#, ASP.NET, and HTML. So, I am basically a learner, and want to see how things will work and how would I host those sites in the actual server settings.
Thank you very much in advance.
Please, provide me a good resource that has all the information needed.

Self hosting is usually slow on a basic internet connection like mine. The easiest way to do it is kind of cheating but I'm running Windows XP (you can use 2000 and newer) and Xampp because it made it a lot easier to configure.

I recommend using ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, and IIS 7.5 (Microsoft Exchange is good if you want email). My website runs all the above, if you need any help feel free to ask me!

I want to know, how does one setup their own name servers? Example, say I'm starting a hosting company and I need my own nameservers for my domain, etc. How would one go about setting those up? Do you have to register somewhere?

Installing IIS would be the easiest way; it comes with Windows. If you want to use PHP it's probably easier to use Apache. At least in my experience PHP is simpler to setup with Apache.
You're going to have a problem using your home Internet unless you have a static IP, which you probably don't unless you have a business-class subscription.
