This has nothing to do with stability of the server. There was a huge increase in bandwidth for no reason and no service was using it. It was rouge, but it quickly stopped. And if you want stability, see here: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=17850

Question about the servers: The server has a 1TB HDD, but the banner at the top of the website says ~2000GB of stuff. Am I just being thick, or is there another server with most of the stuff on?

I chuckled at the Q6700. I have a little webserver running Standard 2008 R2. It has 4 GB DDR2 and an Athalon single core 1.8 GHz. It may be 2GHz im not sure. Its quite rediculous.

I would use windows server for home sharing, definitely. Its great for home/business networks, but I haven't been convinced of its means for public serving. In fact when I buy my next computer in a few weeks, I am going to use my system as both a game station and server for my family.

guys, why don`t you build a temporary server which is switched to if this one is DDoSed!! it will save lots of traffic. Plus it will give you time to track those DDoSers and teach them a lesson
