Hello. Every time I try to open GarageBand, my system freezes and it sometimes shows a kernel panic. Also, when I say freezes, I mean mouse and keyboard and everything else dies. This happens on the initialization screen. I am running a Hackintosh 10.6.7 with all updates to date installed. Thanks a lot for any help.

See that's what I was thinking compgeke. I can't even access my input options in sound. Also, uname -a gives me:
Code:
Darwin Chriss-Mac-Pro.local 10.7.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.7.0: Mon Mar 28 13:34:53 EDT 2011; legacy kernel v7 :xnu-1504.9.37/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386

Well, here's how it was. Before I enabled QE/CI with my video card, this cause a kernel panic. Now, it just freezes but no kernel panic happens. I can't use an original kernel since I have an AMD processor. Maybe there's a way to edit GarageBand's requirements?

Ok. Now I have another question. If I install the Vanilla kernel and something doesn't work, what happens then? Do I have to reinstall or can I fix it in single user mode?

Put the new kernel in / under a different name than mach_kernel, let's say "vanilla_mach". Then, as the computer is booting, hit F8 and write in the command line "vanilla_mach -v" (without quotes). The -v is for Verbose mode.

Ehh. I'm too lazy to bother with it Besides, I need to find out where to download it, how to install it, and all that other stuff. But once I do, instead of F8, can't I just type in vanilla_mach -v in Chameleon?

Well, then I suggest the Intel machine (and use retail like I do; plus you have choice Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion) or install some other Hackintosh build with integrated Vanilla.
