Also me, it was fine in all the day.

I tested it from 14:15 local time (GMT+4) and also yesterday at night and it was fine.

If that was the problem, then fine it doesn't make alot of problems.

Probably load caused by / due to heavy downloading or was it actually some "ddos" ?

What are the server specs by the way if I may ask.

a Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.6 GHz
2 Gb DDR2 ram
1 Tb hard drive space
running:
Windows Server 2008 R2 Web Edition.

Partially wrong, it's 4GB RAM, not 2. The rest is correct.

That's the home server for the backups, not the one that runs the site. The server info page also distinguishes between the two:

Ahh, I had the main and the backup server mixed up.

I usually use a *Nix server not a Win* server, I find that *Nix servers are built to handle a bit more than Win* Servers.
