I tried it once and it worked. When I reinstalled it it never worked ever again. It's a shame

what's the differnt's between the black and blue installer?

I've tried both and installed with success! But I wasn't able to boot on the mediafire one.. I installed a crapy version of xp and was able to start the installation from there. The one on rapidshare have more stuff in it (wallpapers, themes) but it takes years to download without a premium account!
BTW there is some joke in the one with the black installation like "now easier to backup you porn..."

I think that these are the "reloaded" and the "reloaded M1" iso. The on on mediafire is: "WindosLongHornXP.iso" and the one on rapid share is: "LHR_M1_FRE_EN_SE.ISO"

It deeply saddens me that although microsoft have known about this project for many months they only issued us with this notice a few days after we started to distribute the iso via torrents and ftp server.

From now on any links posted or any requests asking for a download link to LHR the post will be deleted and the thread closed.

I am just as sorry as you guys are about this, but we got to think about the community as a whole first.

yeah we recieved the letter eons ago...and all links were pulled from the site and any aother links have long since been removed....totally illegal!

not sure if they care now as much as they did back then...if they do um sure someone will be getting a letter as well..lol

think they will always care since that OS was never official, therefore it cannot be abandonware
and since it has their test technology in it... well atleast i would care if it was mine

I think they still care because those builds are really hard to find on the net. Most of the link I've tried were removed due to copyright so fo those who didn't noticed, I've uploaded the rapidshare iso on http://share.longhorn.dk/:

This will never be distributed through BetaArchive because these are custom hacks, i.e mods which also contains code that goes around time bomb restrictions put in by Microsoft.

This is legal because it's Abandonware this project is abandoned by Microsoft and they will not return to this builds... (A miracle will be return by Microsoft to Longhorn).

and its not technicaly abandonware since it was NEVER released as finished product
