As long as my old iPod Touch 1st gen 8GB has served me as a excellent PDA, with Apple's drop of support for OS 4.0 and low capacity it could simply go no further. Obsolescence hits all devices, and unfortunately it's time has come. However, as i type this it's successor is on the way!
There's a not particularly subtle hint somewhere in the picture...
Expect a full unboxing video once it arrives in 10-11 days! I can't wait to get acquainted with it!

Archos Tablet? Good choice.
Correctamundo!
I got a Archos 5 500GB, and due to a special deal they had going on i also got a free case and Battery Dock! I haven't received word that it's shipping yet, Monday will probably be the day though.

IIIIIIIIT'S HEEEEEEERE ... and several days before i thought it would be! this is a pleasant turn of events. i got the protective pouch and battery dock free with the A5 as part of their weekly deal. too bad i missed the deal with the free GPS base, i'm taking driving next school year and the base would have been handy!
[s]I'll update this post with unboxing photos as soon as i get out of the shower (i just got back from a bike ride through the local forest preserve, i'm all sweaty right now.)[/s]
I have no clean underwear right now! FFFFUUUUU--
since i have some time to kill before the laundry is done, i'll do the unboxing right now.

PHOTO ALERT!
(for some godforsaken reason my Stylus 600 camera decided to save all the unboxing photos to internal memory instead of the 256mb XD picture card. why? i have no clue.)
1. The Box, with my hand to show scale (labelled for your convenience). i tend to scribble on or scratch my desk. i should refinish it sometime soon.
2. 500GB!
3. YO DAWG WE HERD U LIKE BOXES SO WE PUT A BOX IN YO BOX SO U CAN UNBOX WILE U UNBOX
4. What the christ is this? there wasn't anyone else in the room. it's probably just all that creepypasta i've been reading getting to me. Slenderman, goddamnit. Also, in the reflection i look like i'm not wearing a shirt. in fact, i am wearing a white t-shirt, and i do not look that fit in real life.
5. other contents of the box.
Now then, i have to charge it before i bring it onli...

First thing is to get a full charge. If you have a universal wall charger you can get a full charge in about 3-4 hrs rather then the 8 hours + charging usb to p/c. You will know it's fully charged when the little light next to the power light is flashing instead of solid.

oh crap, i hope i have a universal charger or this thing won't be ready until around 11 P.M. See you at either ~6-7 PM or at near-midnight!
ADDITIONAL NOTES: In terms of size, the Archos 5 is about as high as a typical SNES/Super Famicom cartridge and about a centimeter wider. it definitely has a bit of weight to it, and despite it's plastic casing it feels very well built. Now then, i'm gonna need a chainsaw, the battery dock and protective pouch are entombed in that impossible to open plastic...

I never listen to the "fully charge before using" crap since it does nothing special at all and is not harmful if you don't. Plug it in and use it, don't keep the suspense! Most Li-Poly and Li-ion batteries come almost fully charged anyway normally.

I do the same as well. When I got a new cellphone they wanted you to wait for it to charge. Instead just plug in the charger and boot it up to activate. Did the same with my laptop. The charger is able to provide enough current to be able to charge and use the device at the same time. And like you said, the batteries aren't usually at 0%, since its bad to store them at that amount of charge anyways.
