I have been planning my own OS called Amazing Basic and I need ideas that could make it really useful

I think that you should consider the scope of what you're "planning". What programming experience do you have gives you the capabilities to create an entire operating system? Why not try building a simplistic Twitter client or something on that scale, first?

First of all, How much of C/C++ do you know?
What Boot Loader are you planning on using?
Are you going to create your own Kernel?
Are you going to build your own GUI Structure?
What features are going into your System?
What Platform can this System run on?
What would be the purpose of this System?

If there is anything I missed, let me know.

What are you planning to do with this OS and how will you do it? That's all I'm asking.

I'm not saying there's absolutely no way to do it but seriously, it's not that worth it. It requires a lot of hard work and knowledge probably little to know people have, even geeks. Plus I doubt you could remove hardware requirements altogether. Anything will use up RAM and CPU cycles, that's just how it is. For beginners, SUSE Studio is a good way to build a "custom OS" based on Linux. It's pretty customizable as well.

All you have to do is learn exactly how each bit of hardware in your computer works down to the smallest level and then you can start coding.
Or, you can go the super lazy way and just reshack some strings in Windows 95 and call that your "OS".

Tell me, how much do you know about programming? How much do you know about the way software works with the hardware?

Why not you try making a custom Windows version first, then when you learn enough about how the computer works (read: everything) then try making an OS from scratch.

How do you do that?

Read lots of books and try things for yourself on your own computer.
