Hello all,
Further to recent topics, please leave your vote for the question of whether to increase the post count to access the Advanced Members group to 25. The majority vote will be the one I use.

i dont think we need to raise the limit just be more stringent on "contributing posts" to being in the OS games software and hardware sections
and if they offer something of value like a rare beta or something rather interesting then after a 5 day waiting period they can be admitted whether they have the 10 posts or not you know to make sure they behave themselves

I think 10 contributing post are fair, 25 aren't needed. @angelwolf: Well i think Andy handle it pretty well, contributing posts are not always need to be that anyone share rare beta's, it can also be a useful tip or help to anyone's problem or anything informative about betas etc.

i think maybe you misunderstood me i meant that as an alternative to the 10 posts we want to have very good and active members her cant let the rare ones who are willing to share slip away

Absolutely. 10 posts is far to little with the current atmosphere. This forum is being taken over by those who want everything they can get to be better than their friends at work/school. I would have posted more but I decided not to, to prevent flaming.

I think it should be increased. But my expression is the same as The Distractor, up it to 20. I today just came back after I retired about a year ago and there are hell of a lot new members which are Advanced Member. The process to access the FTP and the posts is just way to easy. Advanced Members should be a little bit more limited. So we can trust the people who join the group and we are more leak-proof against people as stevethemeave45 (not sure or he was the guy who posted like 3.6 billion video's about asking what the FTP servers password is).
Little bit long explaination, but it covers my thinking about it

this sounds alot like politics to me have a problem create an unnecessary solution to feel better when a much simpler solution would be to be more strict on where those posts will count from
25 post doesn't look like a very welcoming cowed and might intimidate alot of potential contributers they arnt gonna want to have to make 25 posts just to upload something that might be huge in value
the post should be limited to everything thats NOT part of the off topic section

why not make it where 10 contributing posts is needed in order to upload something and 10 more contributing posts would be needed to gain access to the download section

Yes, but more importantly we should change the VIP section requirements from 750 posts to a time limit, such as 1+ year. This would get rid of plenty of the people who SPAM just for VIP access, as well.

No Derf, 6 months would be better.
I'd wager that 1 year would be better. 6 months is easier to "wait out" to become VIP. 1 year would require real dedication to staying on the board in the long run. JoeJoe doesn't even have a time limit or a post count limit - you only get VIP if they think you deserve it. Imagine if we did that.
SPAM is all the idiotic posts our new members are making in order to get VIP in like a month. If you see post counts of 750+ in a couple of months, chances are they've spammed up the forums.

But I have no idea what "spam" is to be honest. Nothing really to me on this site is "spamish"
its usually in the off topic sections unnecessary topics unnecessary/non contributing posts asking questions that have been asked to death making a new topic just for an already discussed question
they are usually basic users trying to just get there 10 posts and they are usually removed kinda fast

Yes, the VIP posts changed to a time limit would be good: I've been trying to make non-spam posts to get 750, and i'm on just over 500 as of now. hehe.

I think raising the post count for access to advanced members is a great idea. 25 is very reasonable. VIP donation/post requirements has a reason behind it, which is to recognize contribution to the forum - a time-based system would not be a suitable replacement to me because it doesn't recognize or value contributions given.

However we've seem members, whom I won't name here, get into the VIP section without truly earning the title. They're members who have been here since November and already have an audacious amount of posts, with little quality. The current system didn't block them from getting in, and we need a system that does.

I vote YES because 10 posts can be made in 1 hour.

100% agree with you.
VIP Member should be only in donation, not the number of posts
