I totally agree with Lucky, the place has more betas within it than any other like it, yet 99% of the talk here is childish nonsence, mostly about an opinion, and rarely about solid facts that one can learn from. It's a good day when you learn something, it's a pain in the butt to log on here and have to read insignificant differences of opinions that mean little to nothing about betas. I don't come here to read about differences of opinions, other troublemakers forums, or fake builds, let us determine it's fake when it's in your hands, otherwise keep it off the forums or be banned and ISP blocked, and block proxy logins.

Exactly.
People just need to learn to chill. If you are wrong, or if you think someone else is wrong (especially with the older betas) then don't freak out about it. I'm all for great correct information on older stuff, but if that means that people have to flame about it (even making people leave because of that) then the information is worth nothing.

Well, I support the 3 month idea. I do think 3 months make an excellent period of time before getting FTP access (why? look. I came here some time ago searching specifically for Chicago 73. I made 10 contributing posts on the first day I came here [the thing was that I saw how complete the community was, so I tried to ask things I thought others could wonder as well, and so it was], Anyway, things have changed a bit since and I don't think that the way I got in would be good now.) Now, the point is that I came here specifically searching for that. If there would have been a 3 month waiting I would have then maybe posted just some something and go search for the build somewhere else.
I personally don't post much because the Betas of my interest are not so commented ATM due to a lack of leaks, but I read the site almost every day.
I think here we have two kinds of "problematic users". First, kids (I don't think I need to explain why...). About that one, I'd thought before to set an age restriction, but... It's sooooooooo easy to violate that it's terribly useless (therefore discarded).
Now... The second problematics here to my point of view are the Know-It-All guys and the I'm-Always-Right-Guys.
People don't want to post new things anymore fearing flamewars....
I think that the only thing we need is respect. If someone's post will not REALLY GIVE SOMETHING TO THE TOPIC what for to post? Just to show they are OMG supreme and know it all? I personally disagree.
And ... the last thing I disagree... I'll call it "google questions". Somebody asks something a google will solve immediately. So, well, as to many members, please, google before asking It's most of the times quicker, more complete and accurate . After you've googled, for ex, for a certain kind of soft, then ask about which is better and why. Then we're all learning.

I've been away from BA for a while. i've mainly been keeping updated with the RSS feed. And I have noticed, the feed seems to have taken a bit of a dive in quality of posts. Do we really need to fight so much? And if so, can't it be done privately?

To be fair, these i'm leaving sod you all bye bye threads are just stirring up trouble. If you just leave, we might get the point. The only purpose of these posts is to state I'm leaving oh gosh I'm so controversial!
Anyway, from looking at the current poll, this is how it looks so far.
Interesting to see what people think. People like this forum, but more and more are finding it irritating and annoying and unwelcoming, which isn't good.

Just to clarify, that post was meant in good humour, Clean Feed is the name of the content filtration and blocking system soon to be imposed on all Australians. It was in now way meant to be a sign of hostility towards Rayle.

Also to clarify, no offense was taken from this. I meant it to be a joke.

BA is a great community its just being flooded with stupid people these days. When i first joined BA honestly i had zero knowledge about betas etc but i had an interest, today i can freely say that i have learnt so much from this site because of the wonderful people and the level of discussions that were on the forum. Back when i joined noobs were greeted and the members took steps to help others learn but now all i can see is members flaming noobs who really want to gain some knowledge. When i joined i used to go through every single post made out of want for more knowledge all the posts seemed so interesting all of them had something to learn from, today i dont even check most of the sections because most of them consist of stupidity. It really disappoints me to look at the current state of BA

It's someone who is playing games. If you see any like it, inform a moderator. It's most likely just someone who has been banned recently. Whoever it is likes proxies so it's quite hard to totally ban them. It has been suggested that I close registrations for a while. Maybe I will.

The problem with that is that Andy (or whoever would be given that job) would have to deal with tons of requests per day. Its much easier to just let people post and weed out the spammers.

BA is a good community, where people who knows their stuff about betas can chill and chat.

I was once like Tushar_Verma_333, though not as much of as a noob. my profile says I have not posted much, which of course I havnt, although I have been reading and learning, and I must admit, I feel like I have learned much from here already, and have a heck of a lot more to learn.
admited i've not been the perfect member.. but I try. I am thankful for it being here, I have managed to get hold of some BETA's and Abandonwares that I have been looking for for a long time, and in return, I will upload any and every piece of BETA and abandonware that I get hold of (if it is not on the FTP already)

I am in no way happy with the flaming. flamers, in my eyes, are spoiled argumentative children. attitudes make me think less of them.. (10-15years of age?) apologies...had a load to get off my chest.
Thanks Andy for making and maintaining BetaArchive.co.uk for all Beta and abandonware users.

So did a lot of other people, and it wasn't exactly porn. Nonetheless I have a feeling who it could be, but I'm not naming names here

I loved the older beta archive more, you remember? most of you probably don't, it was... more quit, more relaxed, less people going crazy, it was just nice. I am not to fond of what it is today witch is why you don't see me around quite as much.

This forum is great. Love the idea. Problems are the members who post 10 posts and never post again. I hate those people. Just joining for the downloads. Not to have an intelligent discussion. I like members who like talking and not downloading. Likeing Dreamcast is also a help

I like it, but I had the old memory of late '08/begin '09. Relaxed, not crazy, flamewars were rare. Now look, it happens more often that a topic with a new forum member who is new to the beta scene and ask's a question kindly, ends up with some child from 8 saying he's a ******* *** n00b which needs to **** his mother. (just giving an example, i will never-ever say this in my life time on BA, i promise!)
Andy, start with doing trials. 3 days trial, good behavior will result in the user being allowed in the community, when there is an bad behavior, kick him out of the BA servers. That will work good, cause' flamers can be detected in the beginning, and because of that there should be done something. Cause' contributing members will leave, when the flamers could be stopped in there beginning.
