I am beginning to wonder why I bother running this forum. We're supposed to be a friendly community, and a handful of members keep reducing us to what seems to be a forum of kids and flaming. What is your problem guys? What is so hard about refraining yourself from flaming another user or their topic? Is it some kind of mental disorder? An urge to hurt someone? A way to get pleasure? It's pathetic, and it's beginning to get on my very fine nerves.
Most of you should be old enough and mature enough not to do this any more. Sure I can understand the odd bit of flaming from a younger member, but some of you are much older than this and yet you carry on flaming like a child. All we're trying to do here is promote valued and fun discussion, and your flaming is reducing it to arguments. It's not on at all.
As a result, I have upgraded my ban-hammer to platinum. So what does this mean now? Simple really.
- One single hint of flaming = 7 day temporary ban - Argument of any kind = 7 day temporary ban - Insulting ANY member or topic = 7 day temporary ban - Returning after a ban and repeating any above offence = PERMANENT ban
I hope that is clear to EVERYONE. If it's not, tough luck. You've been told far too many times what the consequences are, so it's not my problem if you break them.
Think this is going too far? Damn right it is, because you can't get it into your heads that we're supposed to be a friendly and welcoming forum.
I suggest you pass a link to this topic to any other members you know so they are aware of the new rules I have put in place and they can avoid being banned.

@Andy: Better get diamond plating on it. Recent members on BA either spam, flame, or start a flame out of nothing. I mean, seriously, this: That's 50 posts in roughly 2 hours! Not to mention the Cougar 28 build.

Do not flame about these topics in this topic.
@iluvbetas: This is supposed to be a professional forum (e.g. talking like 7h15 15 |\|07 4||0W3D), specifically, a technology forum. That's why we get "butthurt" when someone insults something. Sure, we can do this on /nttalk, /b, efnet, etc., but not here.

Indeed, this is getting irritating to deal with, as I have mentioned. I'm also not happy when people receive warnings, then come back foul mouthed at me (specifically, iluvbetas).
Back to the flaming, the word pathetic comes to mind. That's all

Unfortunately I have to agree with Andy. The increasing flaming and troublemaking is not only lowering the quality of the forum but it scares away decent people that come here to actually discuss betas. Far too many members has been warned too many times, and even I have given a lot of leeway in the hopes that individuals would stop plummeting the forum into a childish playground. If you people want to flame others and feel important about it then there are other forums that accept this kind of behavior. BetaArchive does not.
Some of you are too immature to understand this so I expect some complaints and whining that Andy is too harsh etc. but remember, you were the ones forcing us to do this. So you got only yourselves to blame for it. And I agree with Andy completely on this decision. Some of you have no grasp on the concept of action>consequence so we have to unfortunately display this in force. And it's easy:
Action: You flame, pointlessly argue or insult. Consequence: You get a 1st temporary, 2:nd permanent ban.
IF anyone wants to discuss this in a mature and ordered fashion you are free to contact me, I am not disallowing anyone here to argue the rules and regulations of BetaArchive. But don't come to me and whine it's too harsh, that BetaArchive is becoming a "1984" (read and understand the book first please) or question why the ruling was implemented. That is by now far too obvious on this forum.
As to the peaceful members, this decision will not affect you in any way. Business goes on as usual on the site and we will continue our work on improving BetaArchive as the leading beta community forum .

Agreed. The spam posts that were on here earlier shows what members can and will do. Nasty.

Nah, we're not "there" yet. We encourage complex sentences.

People please... if posting shock pics because you've been banned or BA's community is superior to your beta site is how you get your kicks... maybe you need to re evaluate your life.
Thing is, you're not really hurting anyone, you're offending some members but BA isn't going to shut down, so why bother, seriously, you're just wasting your time and bandwidth

He PM'ed me too, so I deleted and e-mail/IP banned him.

Listen people, this announcement (just as all announcements on this site) were made to notify you of changes on the site (or us), not to discuss what and why things are as they are. We encourage discussion but not pointless comments so keep the following posts to the point without any 2 cent analysis logs. If some can't accept that they got canned then it is their problem, not ours. Mocking banned members or the reasons of their ban is just as bad which will get you in the hotseat eventually. So everyone just drop what, when and why and move on.

Why can't people access that topic? DuranMedine is not in the Advance or VIP groups so he cannot post in the VIP. What happened here? Also, that was not 2 hours, more like 1 day 1 hour.

The topic can not be accessed due to a moderator moving it to a forum that regular members can't see, only mods and admins due to flaming that some members sparked.

Not sure if you want to clarify that a bit since there can certainly be legitimate and worthwhile arguments that take place, with mature parties on each side, and do accomplish something in the end. However, I guess this is more in the context of "flame wars." (or so I think?)
Thanks, -Rhykin

I'd like to thank the mods for taking this step as I can see its required to make Beta Archive a better place. Just a reminder to the winders Andy owns this server and your a visitor to it and the site (Thats where the term came from for talking about people accessing a site). So hes basically allowed to do whatever he wants with it and ban /block whoever he wants for whatever reason.

I have to agree with Andy though. I would've done the same thing. You should see the SPORE forums though. They're a lot worse.
Spore fourms, well, you can't even look at anything without seeing negative or stupid comments. Ex:
Code:
User: Where can I find the item? They say it is in location. Guy: O well ur wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buddy: ya, you need to burn in hell User: Stop it! Dude: You are a stupid idiot with no life Admin: Locked, users banned.
But BetaArchive is not that bad at all, we don't have those kinds of wars here.
