Hello all,

Now that we're on the new server, what do you think? I personally feel its much faster than the previous, and we don't get any hanging either :)

Please vote in the poll.

11:00 local time (GMT-324, I forgot about DST) it was back up. A lot quicker even on 2M ADSL! (It's 11:02 right now)

Very nice!
Hopefully you won't need to restart PHP every hour now...

I'll get something from the FTP to see the speed. Hopefully it's full.

EDIT: Response: 530 Login or password incorrect!

The FTP hasn't been transferred yet, it's still on the old server.

Ridiculously fast; too fast, maybe. :P

I do get a few hangs, but they are far and few. Congrats, the server is win.

Everything Microsoft!
as Hounsell, no longer any 500 errors (I was getting them randomly, or it would just hang).
But also the respons time is quicker.

Seems the same to me. Getting here was a little longer than usual but otherwise, pretty [censored] fast

It's really fast! Cant wait to see the ftp. Are you going to use IIS for the FTP as well?

Err, IIS is a web server, not an FTP server ;)

That's funny. I'd swear I saw a ftp server thing somewhere in IIS for Server 03. Must be wrong.

Personally I prefer Apache as a web server for some reason. I guess it's because I found it easier to configure.

There is an FTP service which is separate to IIS but works well with it, since it was also MS designed.

Apache can be more difficult if you don't know what you're doing, as can IIS, but I prefer GUI's to text based configurations because it's so much quicker to change things, and there is less chance of getting syntax incorrect, etc. IIS was a doddle to set up once Hounsell showed me some useful tutorials.

Great! No more damn 500 errors, and it's as fast as browsing 127.0.0.1, as said above. :D

All sites get them on occasion, so they won't totally be gone. They will be significantly less than before though.

I think it's slower now, I never had an issue with the old server and now pages are taking a couple of seconds longer to load. It's not a huge difference, but certainly noticeable and annoying.

Well you're the only one who thinks so. Maybe it's an ISP issue this evening? Give it till tomorrow then see what it's like.
