Someone put this on the FTP.
There are 2 versions that I remember, the 1st one was the original leak, then someone went in with a hexeditor and changed some things and made some levels/movies work.

I still strongly remember there being two versions leaked.
The second one after this having more content (not just new maps) but stuff like better ragdolls and more stability. An outdoor screenshot pops to mind (not an open area, just sky) Some test map maybe? Didnt look like mars atmosphere at all. I never got around getting the better version due to having slow connection back then. But I remember my friend having try it and seen some shots.
It's been so long altough, I might be wrong. Have been searching for it for a while.

As far as I know, Beta 1 and Beta 2 were fakes.
I think it was like the HL2 Russian beta: a patched up version of the original leak.
You're right, that's exactly what it was. It came with some user made maps. There was a mini-mod for the leak, about 2 or 3 maps iirc.
If you're referring to "The_Thing" mod for the leak, I have it. The maps are actually quite well done. They're the only large fully custom maps for the leak other than GabeN's that I know of.
EDIT: did they have names like "1.bsp" "2.bsp" etc?

The beta version of the leak contains a config where you can edit your sound volume, resolution settings, you can easily edit your key configuration. If i'm right. Can anyone upload the beta version?

Thanks! I've been looking for this for a long time! I can't believe ID Software let ATI destroy their games up! I love ID Softwares games, but they were better before ATI got them!
Here's some Quake III Arena Alphas
When I play the Introduction in Doom III Alpha it keeps muting & unmuting! Could someone please help me fix this?

I don't think that can be fixed, at the time this was leaked the sound system was unfinished which is why the audio is very buggy.

I can't get this to run on my PC. I've tried using Comptibility mode. It's wierd though because I've been able to play on a another computer (that I don't use anymore) that ran Vista. Can someone help me?

I don't think that can be fixed, this was leaked so you should expect things like that.

i think newer nvidia drivers break it otherwise you might have to have to dual boot another os

There's heaps of Errors in this Leak, the only one that p**ses me off is the no Sound at the Introduction. The first time I ran it the Introduction worked fine, but now it keeps muting & unmuting constantly! This Doom III Alpha is 10 times better than Doom III now, ATI's fault!

It's a . No sh*t, sherlock. It's going to have bugs. Stop blaming everything on ATi when they have nothing to do with it.
On a side note, I love how you're cheesed off about the bugs in the leak and then you say the Alpha is better than the final game.

No, it's ATI's fault. They leaked it & changed it. I mean the Shotgun in the final Game of Doom III, doesn't even look like one. No it's an Alpha. I don't blame everything on ATI. The Errors I hate & the Alpha... better. Apart from the Errors, Doom III Alpha was way better, including the Sounds. Zombies & Demons sounded so much better. And in the Alpha, Zombies & Demons seem to come out of no where, that scares the hell out of me! In the final Game they're just stand there until you come & shoot them. I also loved how the Zombies got back up in the Alpha, in the final Game they don't!

Then it not's ATi's fault. It's id's.(The people who actually made the game) Besides, Carmack himself said DooM 3 sucked anyway.

Doom III was one of the best Games ID Software ever made (it could've been better).
Was Doom III Alpha ever leaked? Or did someone sneak it out? I've heard a rumor that Doom III Alpha was illegal & someone sneaked it out (at the time) & about 2 years ago (or so) they made it legal.
