I've tried it with -f now and on -v it stops just after the MAC Framework is initialized and the last bit of text says 'using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 clusters IO buffet headers'

I wasn't able to use iATKOS v7 to install on the Core i7 at all. I just use iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6 with voodoo kernel and update the kernel to 10.5.7 vanilla.

Hi all,
I am having exactly the same problem as the original poster: I am able to boot and install, but on my first reboot I get stuck on a grey apple logo on a grey screen.
I've tried -v and, like WeirdEars, the last message I see is along the lines of 'using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 clusters IO buffet headers' (possibly with different numbers). It didn't look like an error.
I've tried with -f and -x separately, and both also get stuck on the same grey logo screen. (I've not tried either of those with -v though, so I'm not sure if there's any more info there. I could.)
To get the DVD to boot initially I had to use the following options: 'mach_970 busratio=20 cpus=1 -v'.
At the customise stage I chose the components as sensibly as I could, but I'm afraid I didn't write down my choices (damn!).
Do you think I've perhaps chosen an incorrect component?
Is there another boot option I could try?
Oh, here's some of my specs:
Dell Studio XPS™ -(D03SX01) Base: Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 920 (2.66GHz, 8MB cache, 4.8GT/sec) Memory: 3072MB (3x1024) 1067MHz DDR3 Tri Channel Video Card: 512MB ATI® Radeon® 4850 Graphics card
(I could give more detailed info when I'm back at the PC later.)
