Hello all,

The long awaited revamped image uploader has finally arrived! You can now upload multiple files at once via a new flash uploader. It also offers a basic HTML based uploader for mobile phones/pda's, or incompatible browsers.

I hope this makes life easier for everyone.

Coming soon will be a URL based uploader too.

I would like to thank "monkey56657" for coding this for us.

Please post your feedback here!

Andy (Admin)

A job well done!

Hey monkey56657, weren't you going to become an "Advanced Member" once you finished the image uploader? Noticing you have 140+ posts, I would say its about time, isn't it?

Whoa... talk about a man with a purpose.

Good luck then.

Back on topic. I'll test the image uploader with the bunch of images for the last post on my series of the Pokémon games betas. I'll give you feedback when I'm done uploading the pics.

Whew... finished the last post on the Pokémon games Beta. After uploading a bunch of pictures only a minor quirk appeared while using the new image uploader: I uploaded 3 images, then another 4 and then other 5 (turned out I forgot saving some images, so while I was writing the post I noticed I lacked images). On the final upload, the images were uploading as they did before, but when it finished, instead of giving me the addresses, everything dissapeared, leaving only the "Add more images" button and the message "Images uploaded", and both the newly updated images and the previously sent ones were deleted from the page.

I'm using IE 8.0.6001.18702 in Spanish for Windows XP SP3 32 bits versions, if it helps to debug the code.

It sounds like the session could have timed out. Its worth refreshing the page before adding new images if you left a while between uploading the last photos. I wonder if the session time can be increased or not...

Did you take over an hour to write your post?

Edit: assuming you did take an hour from when you uploaded your first image to end of making your post then it would be session time out. I have made a modification to the lib file that extends the timeout to 6 hours (from the LAST uploaded file). Just got to get to talk to Andy to send it across to him.

The lib has been replaced so there should be no more problems with session expiring. I tried it for 1hr 30 and the images were still shown.

I'd like to post here that animations now also work with the uploader, but its not working the way i'd like it yet so it doesn't accept any animation over 200px wide or 100px in height, or over 30KB in file size. It is being worked on.

Uploading of animated images is now working nicely.

Refer to this example below :)

Yep. Now there is no excuse for anyone using off-site signatures images. :) Anyone with those currently, please replace them with image uploader copies. Thank you :)

Done... now lets see if anyone else does upload their signature to the betaarchive server (and if this change will be really enforced).

They are generated on load by the danasoft server. They would never work with the BA uploader or any other external host. Whether you can use them in signatures is another matter.. you'll have to wait till someone with orange or green font for their username replies :)

Any external host with php support could run one of those sigs ;)

And providing they don't cause any slow down of the page loads I don't see why they can't be used.

Any host with the correct php script yes. But I am saying you couldn't save the jpg and have it still work.

For now it looks like PNG transparency has been fixed, so that alone makes it a big improvement.

Having problems: I select the file, it appears to upload, then, after about a 30-second wait the "Uploading Complete, processed files are shown below" message, but there are no files show anywhere. I tried the non-flash uploader, but that seems quite a bit slower than it used to be. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
ReactOS

The flash uploader also requires javascript support.

As for the simple uploader. It should not be any slower than the old upload system. The only limiting factor is your own internet connection.

Yes I know that. What I was wondering was that if it is still allowed? Or BA could have their own version.
