A question about activation, once windows vista/7 OEM are activated, if you install & activate the same license on another PC, does the original one deactivate or do they both continue functioning fine?

I believe the OEM license is supposed to be tied to one and only one computer, period. Online Activation may present a problem because of this.

Thanks for posting this thread... I've had so many questions about the legalities and rules of the different licenses of Windows for a long time and this has answered almost all of them!!

May I ask how Windows product that feature the word "Select" fit into this? What kind of category to the "Select"-labelled disks fall into?

Microsoft Select is volume licensing program that works for 250 PCs. It falls into several categories, the Windows one will put into System Pool. Refer it to: http://selectug.mslicense.com/ArchivedUG/default.htm

The exact same thing as a full retail product, only with the 'Not for Resale' on them..

For my Windows 7 from MSDN Academic Alliance, online activation succeeded me simultaneously for both my computer and virtual machine:

I have never heard of classmates that, after they abandoned the school, have not received updates from Microsoft anymore.

I really appreciate everyone's input on this very important topic to me and many other users. My question is regarding an enterprise license for Office. Our IT said users could purchase a Home Use license for $9.99 (I think that's the basic price), but it expires if no longer an employee. Can someone expound upon the Microsoft licensing information regarding this or where it's documented to confirm? Thanks to all in advance.
